A New Day is Dawning – by Janice
Scott-Reeder King
Seems like I've wandered forever
Not a drop of water or decency
Wondering where my heroes are
Swimming in a sea of despondency.
Hate is the new love,
Says the decree from above.
Then I saw the children singing,
A world silently creating.
Listen to me Brothers,
We don't need no heroes.
We don't need your God,
We know right from wrong.
Listen to me Sisters,
There are no heroes.
There is no way home,
We must make our own.
I watched in silent marvel
As each one on his own
Came out of the hovels.
Food and Compassion were sown,
Love in abundance reaped.
As their hands briefly joined,
Their eyes closed in unison
Each repeated under the Sun.
Listen to me Brothers,
We don't need no Heroes.
We don't need your God,
We know right from wrong.
Listen to me Sisters,
There are no heroes.
There is no way home.
We must make our own.
From the garbage mountains,
Arose cities in the plains.
The Black Snake withered and died,
As the sun and wind now reigned.
Governments found no followers
Men of God were exposed
No one paid any note.
the Children turned deaf ears and sang,
Listen to me Brothers,
We don't need no Heroes.
We don't need your God.
We know right from wrong.
Listen to me Sisters,
There are no Heroes.
There is no way home.
We must make our Own.
One turned to me in my despair,
Take my hand let us repair
The world is ours as creators
Because we don't need no Heroes.
And from the mire of hate,
He lifted me and changed fate.
Once again and growing louder,
Through the land there was a mummer.
Listen to me Brothers,
We don't need no Heroes,
We don't need your God,
We know right from wrong.
Listen to me Sisters,
There are no Heroes.
There is no way home,
We must make our own.
Joined with Nature without Divinity
One by one loving homes arose.
Gardens bloomed in their vicinity,
Sharing and caring vanquished all woe.
Beauty in each other they saw.
To no one and nothing did they bow
I stood among them in their gang,
All ages, races, sexes and sang.
Listen to me Brothers,
We don't need no Heroes.
We don't need your God.
We know right from wrong.
Listen to me Sisters,
There are no Heroes.
There is no way home.
We must make our own.
