Forecast and Faery Finder for 01/01/10

01-01-10
Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit

According to Llewellyn’s Magical Almanac, today’s color is coral and the incense is Yarrow. It is the 3rd Quarter of the waning Moon.

Happy New Year.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Star: revelation. Make meditation your number one resolution because all the energies are about to bring wealth and abundance this year, but the power to manifest them is lacking because water is lacking the yearly Chinese chart. Water manifests. Dedicate some time to meditation each day so your creativity can come to the surface and answers can manifest from the ether.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
Make some quiet time today to commune with nature and your own spirit.

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Catharsis: “Enjoy the freedom that comes with release.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
The Faery Godmother is about, so make that list of resolutions because she will grant one of them.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 3 and the Element is Metal. The Snake finds conflict today but the Dog and Boar have a good day. Today is not a good day for gambling or beginning any construction.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I stop taking myself so seriously. I let go of my feelings of self-importance and of all the dramas in my life. Through simplicity, humor, laughter and play, I rediscover the joy, lightness and magic of life.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

Today’s Dragon Fae from their Oracle by Lucy Cavendish is Wu-Wang, the Dragon Fae Lord. He tells us that if we are innocent and good, he will appear before us and we can reclaim our wild, pure heart. His energy is cannot be tamed, like Golden Tiger whose year this is. Welcome him through spontaneous acts of dance, music, song and creativity.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Do you have the desire for a garden but no room? Love those salad greens but starting them from seed just doesn’t work for you. Here is a sure fire technique to regenerate your existing veggie tray. Yes, I said regenerate. Let’s start with lettuce. Just about any loose leaf form of lettuce will regrow from the base. I have a kitchen that is getting full of my favorite lettuce. George did not believe it would work until the bottom of the plant in a yogurt cup with some water started putting out leaves. Now he is watching them and has even given them dirt cups. The triple pack of lettuce I bought is all potted. Two are rooted and putting out leaves and the third one just went into a pot tonight with its companions. I love my scallions. I lop the bottom roots off and replant them. George didn’t think they would grow either and was dancing around the kitchen proudly displaying a single sprout. They take longer than the lettuce even though they have workable roots. Mine will all go outside into a container garden but they will grow indoors just as well with good light.
Now where did I get this idea. I bought a package of seeds and it said to sow every week for a continuous harvest. We never did that in the kitchen garden on the farm. All season we harvested the outer leaves and left the plant growing. So, I just restarted the plants. However, they have hybridized and ruined many plants. I remember my first experience with bush beans. Suddenly one day these little bushes, they were so short they didn’t deserve the name, were loaded with ripe beans and I had to pick the entire garden. Then the plant died and I went, “WHAT?????” I was used to the plant continuing to grow up to about two or three feet and continuously produce beans but automation made that impractical. They snatch the whole plant out of the ground and spin the bean pods off in a factory. They even have plants that hold all the beans above them for easy harvesting! The only thing they haven’t been able to mess with, yet, is pole beans.
It is the growing season in South Florida, for those whoa re wondering what on earth I am doing in a garden outdoors. It is finally cool enough to grow food own here so I am getting busy with my containers.
What does the year hold for us? The answer is a lot of work. The spring and water elements are missing from the Chinese chart although it is a money chart. It is going to be hard to get things started and hard to manifest, but those who stay at it, will reap large rewards in the future. This is definitely a year that when you get stuck meditate, get a reading or find a mentor or do all three. The energy is there and super high but totally untamed. All you can do is ride the wave but first you have to catch it.
Today is very important as the start of the New Year. The most widespread custom is reading your New Year’s resolutions. In the South, eating Ham and black eyed peas with cornbread is pretty universal for good luck. The local Druid, will be having her ham, black eyed peas and cornbread. Pig is the sacred meat of the Druid. I am even having sausage gravy on a biscuit for breakfast.
My grandmother was a great believer that what ever you did on this day would propagate through the entire day and set the tone for your year. So, even though my uncles were heavy into the Moon, I mean really hard cider the night before, everyone was drug out of bed early for breakfast and work. By afternoon the big meal was in the oven and we could relax and play some games. Then after the big meal, the photo albums came out and we were all treated to seeing our ancestors. Then everyone went home to enjoy their families.
As for me, the cats will be recovering from their catnip and I will be working on some things to get the year started right. My only resolution is to be healthy this year because last year really sucked in that area.

An Old Foggy New Year's Eve

The Old Fogy’s New Year’s Eve Guidelines

By

Janice Scott-Reeder

Yes, I am officially an Old Fogy. I have no idea exactly what that means because my short term memory is shot the long term one is a little foggy…..oh, that’s it!

Anyway, for those of you noticing your phone directory has more doctor’s numbers than friend’s numbers and you’ve learned to use the delete function because a lot of those friend’s aren’t coming back, I have come up with New Year’s Eve guidelines.

First off, we no longer have to worry about our friends driving drunk. Since their bedtime is at 8:30, we worry about them driving sleepy and then cancelled the party idea because everyone is going to be celebrating in bed anyway. That also eliminated the search for the perfect party dress since all we need is our ratty, comfy pajamas.

We no longer have to search for the perfect stupid party hats to embarrass our friends with pictures in the morning of their antics. We have a closet full of stupid hats to cover our hair loss. At least the kids call them stupid. We call them thrifty from the craft store. Can you beat 99 cents in several colors?

We have replaced the silly party horns with a more organic solution: blowing our noses. Either our noses have gotten bigger or louder, we don’t know which, but they are the only things on us guaranteed to run after dark.

Now when it comes to confetti, that is totally out. No way we are moving the once a month vacuuming date up for that stuff!

However, that has not dulled the celebratory mood, providing we can stay awake. Most of us are counting on some idiot neighbor with fireworks to wake us up at the right time. We have all bought a bottle of some bubbly to share with the cat at midnight. Some of us had to check our list of drug interactions before buying and I can pretty much guarantee on our budgets, the word champagne is not on the label.

We will be starting our celebration around 11 PM because it will take an hour get the stopper out of the stupid bottle. Why don’t they make twist tops in this stuff???

Come midnight we will be having the celebratory toast not to the wonders of a new year filled with possibilities but the happiness we actually survived another year with minimal wear and tear on our bodies. Then, we will drink the rest of the bottle not to get wasted but to make sure it doesn’t go to waste. It did cost 4.99 after all…..

Happy New Year’s Eve
Happy Blue Moon

I think I speak for just about all us except the bank executives, insurance executives, the top 5% with over 90% of the wealth and the Wall Street Boys, thank the Goddess 2009 is almost over! For a year that began with so much hope, it ended flatter than a pancake.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Check your latest social security statement carefully. Right up until this time, mine have all been correct. They shaved 20 years off my birth date. Didn’t anyone notice I started working 3 years before I was born???? Ah yes, our government at work. However, by doing this, I don’t qualify for any benefits because of the changes in laws in 1970. Convenient.
The one day I have to go out, I have a bad hair day. Now, when I had much longer and more hair, I thought I had bad hair days. I could always scoop it back and clip a hair piece on. Now I look like a porcupine with a bad attitude and nothing will hold it down but a complete wash job which of course, I have no time for and it is cold. I have to flop a hat on anyway and it covers everything.
At first I was a little hesitant about wandering into the bank wearing one of those caps with the brim around them that covers everything and glasses. Would they mistake me for a bank robber? It is happening more and more frequently down here; bank robberies that is. Then I got in there and noticed almost all the women are wearing hats including one of the tellers. Okay, they were a bit more fashionable than my 1.99 cotton cap from Michael’s Craft Supply in burgundy, but they covered as much. So I kept my hat on and no one paid any attention to me. Then I started wondering. It is 75 degrees. Why is everyone in wool sweaters, scarves and caps? Some of them were in boots. I’m in cotton jeans and a T-shirt and mules. Welcome to Florida where the rules are different. Heck, we’re on another planet.
Speaking of jeans, mother was right. What you want to shrink won’t and what you don’t want to shrink will. Fortunately, I have none of the latter. I bought a pair of jeans before operations, now referred to as BO, and they fit so perfectly I ordered two pair in different colors. They were slightly tight but had an elastic waist. Yesterday was Turtle cleaning day which with her new larger container is a job and a half. I got the jeans out and they were too loose. I spent the entire job worrying I was going to moon the neighbors or a raccoon. So, I washed them. I dried them on high. For the first time in the history of all jeans in the known and unknown Universes, it had absolutely no effect what-so-ever. I think they are looser.
That comes under the heading of some days I just can’t win. Today is one. The internet is going up and down and I can’t keep a connection, thus I dare not do any work on it. Napoleon took the last third of my yogurt and I mean paw wrapped around the container grab and lick free for all. He really loves the peach yogurt.
I have to say the drop in the metaphysical market is worse than I knew. The magazine I was talking about two days ago, would have been bad reduced to what is obviously now 1/3 of it’s previous size, but opening it up and reading, I discovered they actually published two separate magazines and they are now combined into one. So this is not one magazine for metaphysical retailers reduced to 1/3 but two magazines, one for the health trade, reduced to 1/3 of one. That is bad no matter how you spin it when the magazine itself is all advertising. I hesitate to even consider how many companies have gone out of business. I also just realized I have not received a copy of another trade magazine….ooops…really bad news.
On the other hand, the good news is we will begin working on getting the Salamander open on the weekends, this weekend. It will take about a month as the a/c units have to fixed or replaced. The bad news is, there will be way less emphasis on books as I cannot compete with the big Box stores. The same goes for candles. I can’t beat the grocery store prices even though theirs do have a habit of burning 3 days instead of 7, exploding and going out at odd moments. I know I am never buying another one, particularly in RED! However, in the other markets, I can compete. We will be making more products, mainly because we can’t get them any more. I will be doing more readings in new ways.
What do I mean by new way?. About every other reading I utter the mantra, “I wish you could see what I see,” from the spirits surrounding a person, to their aura on to the Fae flitting about. I was saying that at home when my guide answered, “They can.” I really hate those couple of word answers because it means I have forgotten something important and now have to mine the depths of memory and that is a place I seldom want to go. Then I remembered something from way back in my almost youth. It will require a bit of construction, and you know how George hates construction, and the creation of sacred space, which requires rules of usage, but it can and will be done.
I will manage to get the email readings up on Keen so you can get them that way. That works much better for me because I am almost deaf.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Ace of Pentacles: generation. No matter how much success or fame you have achieved, the feeling that there is something missing is there. Time to look toward the spiritual.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
The Moon enters Cancer at 9:45 PM EST. Harsh words in the morning from authorities or elders greet you. Fortunately, you have learned that lesson and know how to handle things, though your feeling are hurt. The afternoon is very psychic and financial opportunity is there if you look.
Don’t feel bad if you just want to stay home and avoid the parties. The Moon in Cancer makes us wanted to cocoon and stay home with loved ones.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
It is going to be tempting to forget your standards and settle, but you will regret it tomorrow.

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Cat Woman: “Revel in your sensuality and passion. Do things that make you purr.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
The Spirit Dancer flits across our landscape today. She is the champion of self expression, freedom and exploration but she also knows it has another side. We need to see what our expression awakens in others; what their perception is of our efforts. In that way, we grow.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 1 and the Element is Earth. The rabbit finds conflict today. Today is not an auspicious day for haircuts, writing, gambling, construction nor births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I now develop my willpower. I connect this power to the highest qualities of my heart and through all my actions I express the Divine Will on earth.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

I have my beet greens in a vase awaiting cooking tomorrow. They were wilting. Purrbie is stretching a few extra inches out of his nose to encounter them. We all know he is not going to eat them, but they are forbidden.
Seems as though everywhere I have turned today, the subject of boundaries in one form or another has come up. So, I guess I’ll say something about it.
I learned about boundaries very early in life. My parents were not demonstrative types and I was raised with really good manners. You never grabbed something, you asked first. My hands were slapped each time I forgot that. My mother was raised in a very proper home, being one of 8 children by a mother who was the product of a huge boarding house and who valued space and privacy above all else. I learned to respect that and unfortunately, expect that. When we arrived in Latin America, my mother practically lost her mind. If those of you in Europe and the Orient think we, as Americans, have no sense of boundaries, move there. She went totally crazy when she found her refrigerator was raided, her clothes were worn and her make up was tried. She took to locking all the doors, but unfortunately, some of my father’s friends were excellent lock picks. She was so happy to return to this country.
Growing up in a multi cultural neighborhood, I learned boundaries that were even more stringent that the ones I was taught as a child. We had Germans, Japanese, Chinese and English for neighbors and when you threw in the Latinos, it would be a volatile mix if you didn’t respect other people’s customs.
Now the odd thing is, even the most well mannered of us, tend to throw all that learning out the window in metaphysics. I will never forget the horrified look on my mother’s face when some woman ran up and shouted, “Have you found Jesus?”. How dare some stranger on the street question her religious views without even so much as a “Hello, how are you?”! I will say the look she gave that woman totally withered her enthusiasm. That was only equaled by the night my aunt took me to the Jehovah’s Witnesses and I hid under the pew when they started getting weird. Well, it was weird to me. I wasn’t used to strangers trying to hug me.
Giggling? How many of you energetically try to hug people without so much as knowing their names? Do you decide to heal someone because they aren’t behaving the way you think is “good”? Do you invade their mental space by tapping into them?
It has been often remarked that I am extremely graceful. I can move through a crowded room without ever touching a person. That is more for me than them. I simply do not want to get impressions from strangers. I know people who give unsolicited readings. A spirit would have to be kicking my bottom physically before I would do that. What they are going through is none of my business. The same people who would decry someone snooping through their bathroom medicine cabinet have no trouble mentally snooping through someone’s head. The same people who preach freedom of choice seem to have no trouble forcing their metaphysical standard of behavior on someone else with calming, healing or “pink” energies. That is the equivalent of telling someone to “sit down and shut up”. Bet you never thought of it that way? Not only that, but you may be doing damage.
One of the first things you learn in psychiatry is if you have to restrain someone, both of you are going to get hurt. The repercussions are more than physical; they are also mental. Calming, healing and “pink” energy is mental restraint. You are forcing your energy on another person and their first reaction is going to be fight or flight. My high success rate had to do with asking one simple question before I applied any therapy, “Do you want this to be fixed?” Ninety percent of the time the answer was, “Hell, yes!”, but ten percent needed to stop and think about it. There were negative answers when the person was getting too much reward for being “sick”. Some times people were punishing themselves in which case curing the illness was removing a symptom and they would have a new one next week. Some times they were punishing other people with their illness. Some times they wanted to be fixed and other times they wanted to fix themselves. Respecting their opinions and options was what gave me the edge in therapy.
In other words, if you are upset, are you going to be a happy camper if someone walks up, pops a valium in your mouth and holds your nose until you swallow it. No…then don’t force calming energies on someone else’s psyche unless they are threatening you or others. Without knowing the cause of the problem you are just sticking a cork in a bottle that is still under pressure and will blow up at a later time. It is the cause that must be dealt with and that can’t be done without the overt cooperation and knowledge of the other person.
Many years ago I was visiting with two psychologists and their little daughter, who should know better. The daughter turned from a sweet little 4 year old to the thing from Hades within a half an hour and they were timing her out. That didn’t work, she was pounding the wall with her fists at which point restraint seemed to be the route to take. I asked her to come over to me and she ran over and nearly knocked me down. I looked her in the eyes (very important step) and asked her how she felt. That confused her. So I asked her if she felt like she was shaking inside and she looked so relieved someone understood what was happening. I explained to her that the big chocolate cookie she had at the restaurant was bad for someone her size and it was making her shake inside and it was not going to stop for a while. I knew how she felt, I am hypoglycemic. Once she understood there was nothing that could be done for her except time, she settled down and stopped trying to hurt herself. She didn’t feel good, but she was calmer understanding what was happening.
When I have people arrive at the shop agitated, I try to ascertain why this is happening to them. I have an advantage. Close to ¾ of the people referred to our office for psychiatric treatment had something very physical wrong with them and hypoglycemia was at the top of the list. You don’t think straight. You are jittery, aggressive, combative and unable to follow directions. You feel awful and finally, you will lapse into a coma. So I ask, when did you eat last and what did you eat. High sugar combined with caffeine will cause you to cycle up and down, hence the jitters. All the pink light in the universe isn’t going to help and calming someone when their body is screaming “I am in trouble” isn’t going to be productive. Don’t be afraid to ask what is going on. Don’t be afraid to ask if someone feels all right. If they don’t want to engage you, back off. I saw a psychic keep pushing a woman who looked ‘sad’ at a fair until she screamed…”I’m dying of cancer!” I think she had the right to look sad.
Healing is a partnership and a very intimate one. It should be engaged in with the same caution and respect other intimate relationships are. And you should never be afraid to say, “I can’t help you. This is beyond me.” I have said it frequently. It doesn’t hurt. I learned to say it in psychiatry where there were some illness that it simply was against protocol for me to treat with either hypnosis or biofeedback. I have had to tell clients the treatment simply wasn’t working and wasn’t going to work. It was time to move on to another therapy and therapist and some have screamed and held onto the door.
I have, as a psychic, had to do the same thing. Dependence is not a cure. I have people are still angry at me because they think the words, “This is beyond what I know how to do.” means “I won’t help you.” It means “I can’t help you.” Can’t means not able.
That is why responsible practitioners of magic, do so calmly, with forethought and very slowly after carefully examining the problem and then structuring a spell or working specifically to the problem. That, my friends, is why those spells in the books seldom work or work the way we thought they would. For those people who think they can accrue no karma by doing work for others no matter how dark, let me warn you. A wire can burn out with too much voltage or simply through a lot of use, and it is neither the source nor the recipient of the energy. You are the wire. Think about it.
I have upset a lot of people tonight. I know this because as I was writing this an entire book shelf came down on my head. Oddly enough, all the books scattered forward and the shelf fell to my right dropping a large Buddha in my lap. I was unhurt. When people have such a high voltage reaction to something it means on some level, they know they have a doubt about their opinion, practice or methods. Something has been niggling at them. I know when I have a high voltage reaction, I first isolate what I am reacting to and then why. I am a very calm person. Very little upsets me. So before you burn me at the stake, take my grandmother’s advice. Take those shoes off the other person, turn them around and see how you like walking in them. Do you want this done to you? The psychiatrist I worked with for years always said he would not prescribe a medication he would not take himself. We dumped medical samples for at least an hour down the commode every month. It was not a fun job, but it sure taught me a lesson as I was sitting in the stall pushing those pills out of the foil wrappers and flushing them. It taught me to use myself as a yard stick because the side effects I wound up reading while pushing a few hundred pills out of the foil often had my eyes popping out. These were popular medications prescribed by the thousands daily, but I certainly wouldn’t take them and I wouldn’t ask someone else to do it. Are you willing to take your own medicine in the same way you are administering it? Teachers, take heed. Before I was permitted to give a shot in the office, I had to give one to the doctor as a test. Let your students practice on you. You are the best person to gauge how they are doing, not their fellow students.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

I keep forgetting that emotional energy uses up sugar. I have learned the lesson that psychic work will drop my sugar fast. Anyway, today was the day of arguing with stupid people. First off, the hospital tried to get me to pay full retail for tests they did on George and I without submitting to them to the insurance company by shipping the two accounts off to a collection agency without even billing me once! Turns out they are the collection agency but the collection agency arm can’t bill insurance companies so I told them they could either submit it to insurance or stuff it in a dark place.
Argument two is with the insurance company that administrates George’s IRS medical fund. They are trying to claim my blood pressure medicine isn’t medicine and thus they over paid the mail order pharmacy, which they own, and so they are canceling the IRS medical fund credit card I need to pay doctors and pharmacies with. I have been taking the same medicine for 7 years! Is there an employment agency named: Stupid People for Hire or is this just a ploy to get more money out of people and cancel needed services? I spend about an hour a month fighting with the insurance company over really stupid crap like this. They are PO’d because I have reached my maximum out of pocket expenses for the year with the two operations and now they have to pay. Gee, I’ll try to not get cancer next year….The hospital is PO’d because they signed a contract with the insurance company to provide tests at a discount rate. I am in the middle. What is really crappy about this when you think about it is; the people they are screwing with are sick. You really don’t need this stress when you are sick. I used to be really nice and sweet when I was sick. Now I am getting really mean.
Anyway, trying to imagine flowering fields full of bunnies and unicorns apparently neither lowered my blood pressure nor stopped the drain on my blood sugar. So, when George came home all ready to get the water and veggies, I grabbed the letters to the above named a/holes and ran out the door without much thought. By the time I got home from the water machine, PO and Western Meats, I was shaking like a leaf in a wind storm. It was good thing I had bought a tray of brown beans, pork and rice for two dollars at Western Meats, I think it is Columbian style, because I was in no shape to cook and I think slicing veggies would have been suicide! Anyway, George has now learned the joy of pork, beans and rice and the cats are all trying to speak Spanish. My arteries are slamming shut and I am flashing back to my youth. Western Meats is doing really well if the number of people in there buying is any indicator.
I had to go on the web to find out how to cook beet greens because I got one humongous bunch of beets with the greens attached. Turns out you cook them like spinach. They are also higher in sodium that other greens so you avoid adding salt until after you do a taste test. They also said if you bake the roots, the sugar content remains higher and just about anyone will eat them. Yummy! I think I will bake the huge one and boil the two little ones, pickle them and then use the juice to pickle boiled eggs. I haven’t done that in a while. It takes a couple of months to pickle the eggs, but goddess are they good!!!!!
Then came the dose of reality in the mail. I got my professional metaphysical magazine that all the suppliers of goods advertise in. Advertising is pretty much the whole magazine. It was less than half the size it was last year and I barely recognized most of the advertisers. What that means is if you have a product you really love, stock up because suppliers are going out of business fast and retailers are also on the endangered list. The good news is that the Salamander is not in danger because of the number one fact, we own, not rent. I also have never taken out loans like other more mainstream stores did. Actually, your Wiccan stores are doing better and surviving better than the other metaphysical stores because most of us started with nothing and we still have most it. No, really, we almost all started out of our living rooms, learned how to make our products, learned to build our displays, went mail order to start with, trudged to shows and bought what we could afford because no one would loan us money. Now that philosophy is serving us well. Most of the Wiccan stores own their locations because no one would rent to us. George bought the building after two shopping centers flat refused to rent to us. We also enjoy community support that the other more general stores simply do not get. We are religious supply houses. That is what is keeping many of us afloat and has really kept me alive this year when I was ready to give up. Thanks everyone for your support.

Forecast and Faery Finder for 12/28/09

12-28-09
Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit

According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is silver and the incense is rosemary.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Star: revelation. This is an excellent day to learn meditation. Allowing thoughts to surface will bring revelations.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
The Moon enters Gemini at 8:13 PM EST.
You may find yourself jangled out of beds by the phone or computer instead of the alarm. News is breaking and people are talking. (Do not call me! I am not a morning person.) Unfortunately, all you old aches and pains will be bothering you and you just may not have desired reaction to declarations of love. Around lunch, things get fuzzy, so if placing orders check them carefully.
The afternoon is not good for making money and the evening brings a lot of frustration with things that are stuck.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
Your sense of self reliance is on empty today and you are feeling dependent.

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Caterpillar: “Slow down. Take time to focus on the small stuff.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
Ilbe the Retriever is here! You just can’t stay mad at him even though he just smeared invisible jell on your keys. You see, Ilbe is head of the office of lost things: objects, dreams and projects. Whenever he senses the time is right to bring them out and start work, he sends you a message. It is his delivery that sucks. He hides your things and under them, he places the message because he just knows you will find them in the last place you look.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 8 and the Element is Fire. The Ox finds conflict today. Today is NOT an auspicious day for haircuts but it IS for medical procedures, writing and births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “Patience and serenity are now filling my mind and my heart. I trust the Divine Wisdom which is at the source of everything. I stay calm and peaceful. I love, respect and accept everyone and everything around me as an expression of the perfection of the Universe.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Ah, the mix up in gifting! George bought one of those shoes racks for the cats to sleep in and on. I bought a little rolling kitchen island to prepare food on. His was a great idea. Mine was better as I have a postage stamp kitchen, the little island is about a foot in diameter with two leaves that fold up, a basket for onions or potatoes and two shelves. Now for reality. Josephina rolls around on the shoe rack but no one sleeps on it. The basket I had planned to fill with my onions is full of Rusty J. Hoover (at least he is the right color) and one shelf has been claimed by Bat the Cat. I think I get the top but probably not the other shelf. Again we see the wide gap between theory and practice.
Now that Monday is on the way, I think I am getting better. Why do we always get these things on the holiday? I think I can sum up the answer in one statement: if you are sick, stay home! Don’t infect the rest of us and ruin our holiday. When I grew up in the Dark Ages, no one would have even thought of leaving the house with a cold or flu. You took responsibility for your illness and didn’t say, the Hell with the rest of you, I’m having a good time. There are people out there, like me, you can easily kill with that attitude. So don’t laugh if you see me running around wearing a mask and carrying disinfectant wipes. It is my only protection from the selfish jackasses running around out there.
I learned something last night you should know. As the cashier was ringing up a gallon of milk, suddenly milk was everywhere. We couldn’t see a leak until I finally saw the split in the handle. She had picked up to run it over the scanner and leaned it back so the weight was on the handle and it split wide open. Don’t do that. The new super degradable plastics are weak, which is a shame because I used to get at least two seasons of tomatoes out of one of those cartons and then some plant labels.
Boogaboo has come into his own. He runs up, jumps in my lap, flops onto his back and starts purring. “Pet me, now!” I have to stop and pet him.
Poor Napoleon had quite a night. First I was cleaning up aquariums on Fish World and one woman had a music track of whales singing. He went nuts! I mean, he was beside himself not knowing whether to be afraid or to kill something. Then when we settled into bed, my shoulder was bothering me and I was tossing and turning when I heard an annoying whine normally only emitted by small children and husbands from next to me. I had to turn over and settle down.

The Singer of Connection tells us there is a web of light between all living things and their inorganic counterparts. Loneliness, depression and a feeling of being bereft result from not feeling this connection to the Universal Spiritual Web through which karma and empathy flow creating a balanced Universe and individual. Be open to the energy and know that connections are made, maintained and dissolved constantly as you need them.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 7 and the Element is Fire. The Rat finds conflict today but the Dog and Boar have ease. Today is NOT an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing, gambling, construction or births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “Despite darkness and difficulties, I continue on my path with strength and courage. I persevere. Obstacles vanish one after the other and my most deep-felt wishes are now fulfilled.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

By the time I got my sick self out of bed, the cats were napping. Now that I have upset their schedule, they are tearing the house up. I couldn’t give them any of the salmon because the herbs have powdered onion on them and that shuts down their internal organs. They were really upset. I will give them some salmon tomorrow, but they have just been way too bad today for a reward.

The Glanconer, old Smoothe Harry, is about and he gives us the rose colored glasses and makes everyone and everything look the way we want it to. Reality smacks us in the face a short time later.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 6 and the Element is Wood. The Boar finds conflict today but the Rooster has ease. Today is an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing and births.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Napoleon finished my little cup of Cherry and Black Currant yogurt. The cat will eat anything. Last night Purdy von Sweets found one of my balls of crochet thread. It was so big and she is so small that she waddling across the bed with it in her mouth but was she ever proud of her “kill”. Fiona is like a demented homing pigeon with pterodactyl tendencies when she scents food. You just can’t stop her.
I don’t know why I thought I could do the forecast without Napoleon in my lap but he quickly corrected my error.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

I am glad to be pagan this year because I have spent yesterday and today sicker than a dog. At least my solstice was sickness free, both days!
Flame is a few tarot cards short of reading. I have been picking up after her all day. I tried to make carne assado and kept catching Fiona in mid flight on the way to counter where I was chopping the meat. That cat is insane when it comes to meat. I had to chop her a piece of beef while I still had all my body parts.
George surprised me with a whole bunch of gifts including a pound of pure Kona coffee…I float a little off the bed just thinking about a cup of it tomorrow. It was not fair because he has been nixing every gift I suggested for him all week.

Forecast and Faery Finder for 12/24/09

12-24-09
Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit

Jingle cats, jingle cats, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to pull a kitty tail today!
You should see the cats scatter when I start singing that….

According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is Crimson and the incense is Nutmeg. I sell Nutmeg incense at the shop and it is absolutely delightful. Even George likes it.

Today is Christmas Eve.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Queen of Wands: regeneration. Rebuild or seek revenge. One is productive, the other is destructive.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
The Moon enters Aries at 6:40 AM EST.
This week brings news of change from authorities or elders. The changes will be very conservative and nothing to really shout about. This aspect also makes depression worse.
Well, a lot of people with short fuses are about to reap what they sow a day early this morning. By afternoon ego issues cause arguments and there is disappointment with the much awaited changes being announced. This afternoon, you will find it really hard to start any projects and nothing seem fair.
The Second Quarter Moon begins at 12:36 PM EST. You should be well into your projects and doing your first check to see how they are going.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
Laughter is the best medicine and it beats pulling your hair out!

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Something the Cat Dragged In: “You’ve been having a hard time; things will get better.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
Geeeeeooo the Slooow is around today. This Fae moves slower than frozen molasses. Don’t even bother trying to hurry him. When he says slow down, you might as well sit down.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 4 and the Element is Water. The Rooster (George) finds conflict today but the Horse has a good day. Today is not an auspicious day for writing, gambling, construction or births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “”I am now totally committed to the manifestation of my Higher Self. Nothing can stop me. I face every challenge with energy, courage and confidence. I am supported by God’s Light and Love.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

So far today Napoleon has licked two containers of Yogurt clean: Mango, strawberry, peach and Pomegranate Blueberry. Who thought a cat would eat that? I had trouble getting the last one down, but he squeezed his entire head into the container.
Fiona got a piece of chicken this morning and I ventured too close to her. What a potty mouth! She was worse than those little virtual people in Café World. Growling was combined with chewing and sounded horrible.
Folks, there is no point in killing yourself or someone else at the toy store. Sit down with your child and just tell them you did your best and you failed. It happens. Give them the option of waiting until after the big present glut to see if they can find one of the desired toys or the option of getting something else. It probably isn’t their first disappointment and it sure won’t be their last. You are getting them ready for the real world and I will guarantee, you are going to be surprised at their maturity in handling this.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Knight of Wands: affiliation. Seek help today from one who will defend you.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.

The Faeries say:
You can achieve family harmony today if you try.

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Cataholic: “Curb your excesses. Everything in moderation.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
G. Hobyah is the monster under the bed, in the closet and generally anywhere you fear. He is a Hobgoblin. He scares the daylights out of you. However, he is really just a tiny little thing, like more fears. Once you take them out and examine in the daylight, they are really nothing.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 3 and the Element is Water. The Monkey finds conflict today but the Rat has ease. Today is an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing, gambling and births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “In order to create abundance and to fulfill my Soul’s deepest desires, I now let go of any hostility, criticism, resentment, or irritation toward myself and toward others. I choose to fill every moment of my life with joy, detachment, humour and love. I celebrate my life.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

There is nothing quite a suicidal as cooking fish for dinner in a house full of cats.

I have been facing the prospect of going deaf for some time now. At first I was a bit distraught knowing I would never hear the birds sing or my cats purr. Then I got hearing aides and discovered I hadn’t been hearing the birds for some time. Now, my hearing has worsened and I once again face that deadline looming ahead. I suck at lip reading and even if I managed to learn sign language, who else knows it? So I wondered how I would communicate and carry on a conversation with people. I can always feel my cats purr though I will miss Napoleon and Boogaboo’s singing. Music left my life a while ago when I lost large chunks in the range I can hear. It is more of an irritating cacophony now.
So, I thought about all the aspects for a while and I concluded I should look at why we talk. Put simply, it is to get an opinion across. Very few people are actually able to do anything about anything in my world and those that are, have no intention of doing anything, so what’s the point of talking? I have discovered in the past few days I can get by very easily on: yes, maybe, probably, and have a nice day. You just randomly mix them up and no one really notices. So, my resolution for the New Year is to simply stop talking about things. It is a waste of my time and other people’s. Life will be much easier if I just shut up.

The Soul Shrinker is creeping around today. This is one ugly Fae but he claims he didn’t start out that way. His unenviable task is to take all the mean, gossipy, cruel things we say and do and mirror them back to us, making us aware of them. He just wants us to be nice.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 2 and the Element is Metal. The Sheep finds conflict today but the Monkey has ease. Today is an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing, gambling and births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I wholeheartedly welcome all the current challenges of my life. I free my mind of all blame, complaints, regrets or doubts. COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

It definitely was cold last night but I awoke all nice and toasty. It had something to do with the 3 cats laying on me. Napoleon has been glued to me all day and I know it is simply the cold weather. When he leaves, Purdy takes his place. I am having a rare cat free moment when I can work.

This will be a very romantic and psychic week. However, elders are annoyed at the all the greed and egotism for a couple of days and they are very vocal about it.
Trust your intuition and you will make money this morning. Get the social invitation sent out and answered.
This evening, it is an excellent time to promote yourself but do so realistically. You will reap what you sow.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 6 and the Element is Metal. The Horse finds conflict today but the Rooster has ease. Today is not an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing, gambling, construction or births.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “There is no criticism within me or against me. Negativity vanishes from my life. I attract open, loving and supportive people into my life. Together, we play and create a world of peace, joy and love for ourselves and for all mankind.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Although it may be hard to tell, but today the decent into darkness ends and the return to light begins. That is what the Winter Solstice or longest night of the year signifies. The sun sets very early today and each day until the Summer Solstice which is the longest day of the year, the days will get longer. Of course those of you buried under snow may be having a hard time seeing that. We are having the coldest temperatures of this year tonight, but don’t despair, it will be warm by Tuesday.
We got some lights up tonight so the house didn’t look too grinchey. I love the lights this time of year, I just don’t have the energy to put them up. Maybe I will dig more out tomorrow and hang them, if I don’t hang myself in them.
It is hard to find the joy in the season when so many of friends are having such a hard time. I wish there were something I could do but money is tight everywhere. I haven’t decided whether to actually seek a ham tomorrow or see if I have some pork chops to thaw for tomorrow night.
At least the cats are all healthy and happy. I got a Bitwit biscuiting tonight. She got in my lap at the shop, tucked her head in my soft fleece lined dress and went to town. She was even purring. Howler showed up with his mother, Moon Probe and had a can. There was a terrible accident on 441 at the canal but since I live in no man’s land, none of the news services are covering it. We could fall into the center of the earth and no one would cover it out here.

Forecast and Faery Finder for 12/20/09

12-20-09
Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit

According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is Orange and the incense is Almond.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Suspension: inversion. It is time to turn your mind inward and figure how it works. Knowing what motivates you, how you work and what is going on in your mind will allow you find the answers you have been seeking. Let me give you a hint. We tend to sabotage ourselves so we can do what we really want to do instead of facing up to our responsibilities. So the odds are really good that you are actually doing exactly what you want to. Does the alarm not go off, your car break down constantly and you have a permanent case of the sniffles? All these things keep you from work which means, you don’t want to go work. So face that issue rather than unemployment.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
Ceres enters Sagittarius at 3:25 PM EST.
Mars goes Retrograde in Leo at 8:27 AM EST. We can all hope that puts the brakes on some of the egotism but I doubt it.
It is going to be a slow moving, tired day with a preoccupation on others getting what they deserve and not in a good way. The result will be night time arguments.
The rest of the week is an excellent time to network and use social events to get ahead.

Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
No surprise considering the season that parenting and children are the main concerns today.

Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Catharsis: “Enjoy the freedom that comes with release.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
Oh dear, the Topsie Turvets are on the loose. You might want to weigh your tree down. All you need to attract them is a bit of confusion and they are on you like white on rice. These little critters are sure you need a fresh point of view and unfortunately it is often found flat on your back after they trip you. So if you are suddenly really clumsy, get out of your mental muddle before you are wearing a cast.

Today’s Lo Shu Number is 7 and the Element is Earth. The Snake finds conflict today but the Dog and Boar have ease. Today is not an auspicious day for gambling or construction.

Today’s Message from the Universe is: “There is no need to rush. Time is working in my favor. With God’s kind help, everything falls back into place in a perfectly appropriate way for my highest good. I stay calm and confident, I take time to celebrate the perfection of the moment with serenity and joy.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

I finished Born in Fire by Sherrilyn Kenyon today. Although she warned the time line was a little messed up because…well read the intro and you’ll find out….I really didn’t notice. The action never stops in this book and you will really enjoy it if you are into futuristic science fiction romance. Now…on to book 3 which looks good from the excerpt.
Napoleon has a new philosophy of life. I heard a crash and yelled. I looked down the hall and couldn’t see anything but Nappie looking over his shoulder. If I can’t see it; he didn’t do it is his new philosophy.
I had to go to the pet store as Turtle had one more day of her favorite food. It can get hard to find the stuff so I decided to spurge and get two packages. Those little beady black eyes can really get narrow and beady when you displease her. The cats got a package of plastic springs. They have been carrying them all over the bedroom.
Well, I am snuggled up in my long sleeved, fleece lined, long T-shirt as the temperature hits 61 here. Not cold to those of you in a blizzard but we, Floridians, are freezing to death. I don’t think it will last nor will be have a cold winter. Lenux has not gotten his ruff in and his tail is still sparse. He is my wooly caterpillar cat.

Forecast and Faery Finder for 12/19/09

12-19-09
Forecast and Faery Finder

According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is Gray and the incense is Sandalwood.

Tonight Hanukkah ends.

FORECASTS:

Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.

Today’s Tarot Card is the Seven of Cups: delusion. Don’t judge a book by its cover can work both ways. A pretty façade can cover corruption within. If you reach for the stars you had better have a good foundation or you will fall flat on your face. Trust in your own abilities and not those of others. You may have fallen in with the wrong crowd.

Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
Don’t forget the Solstice in on Monday.
The Moon enters Aquarius at 5:39 AM EST. The bad news is old flames show up. The good news is you really don’t care. The hurt has healed. You might even survive your family. Just keep the playful teasing to minimum if you want to avoid hurt feelings.
The Morning brings gift but they have strings attached. This afternoon the solution to problems seems obvious so act on your ideas.

When the Cat’s Away: “Enjoy your freedom.”

Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
Ffaff the Ffooter is running around. In the summer, we seldom fear old Ffaff. To wear sandals, we take pretty good care of our feet, but come winter…oh boy. The boots cover a multitude of sins and Ffaff waits till night and sneaks under the covers and checks our ragged nails and bedraggled cuticles. I just wish he would wash his hands because next thing you know, you’ve got the itchies between the toesies. Or, he picks up both feet at once and you land on your lower posterior getting a puzzled look from Ffaff as you curse him. He can fly, you can’t.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Although parts of South Florida were flooded, we are high and hence just soggy. One thing I did when we first moved in and it flooded horribly was rent a tiller. Yup, I had George till the swale and we have never had a flooding problem since. My poor lettuce is beaten down but I bet it is enjoying the cool temps. My basil looked like someone had shot it. The vines were all hanging down or on the ground. Things generally looked beat up. Amid all the destruction, my Cineraria’s (Mother-in-law’s tongue) delicate little blooms perfumed the evening air. Plants will survive even if we don’t.
I didn’t realize when I got older and got out of bed I was going to sound like a breakfast cereal…snap….crackle….pop….
It seems the Copenhagen greenhouse effects conference is not going so well. We have refused to give any really large pledge and thus China claims emerging nation status. How exactly does one of the oldest civilizations do that with a straight face?
Anyway, I was thinking, again. When I would take a break at the shop I used to watch the CAMS. I would see the same cars going in and out of the neighborhood 10 or more times a days. I had an ex-friend who ran the 10,000 mile warranty out on her car the first month and only one less than 2,000 mile trip was in that. One day I absolutely refused to get in the car with her and go anywhere. I was just plain tired of the constant running around. She was “bored”. How much gas and greenhouse emissions could we save and reduce if we just planned our trips? I have been waiting all week to go to JoAnn’s Fabrics until I could justify it with a trip the pet store, Home Depot and maybe Costco. It makes a nice circle. I buy in bulk so I won’t have to run to the store. Any trip to get water includes Western Meats (they share a parking lot) and maybe BJ’s. Some days I never leave the house. There is nothing I can’t wait on until I have a bigger trip, more stops and more things to get. I don’t order delivery, I will pick up if it is on the way home. Target is grouped with Michaels and Dollar Store on the same corners. All my trips are designed for efficiency. Even with the trip way up in Boca for the event, I have barely used a half a tank of gas at this point and Vanwitch barely gets 9 MPG on the city streets. Yet, I have plenty of everything I need. You want to help the planet? Plan, folks, plan…..
Every once in a while someone, usually a Republican, can’t figure out why people are in such a mess. Well, and I didn’t know this, many people took telecommuting jobs with companies that were in states other than the ones they lived in. Since they had avoided the “independent contractor” trap, they thought they had benefits. Then they got laid off and tried to collect unemployment compensation. Well, the state they live in says, “NO!” and bounces them to the state the company is located in which then bounces them back and they are feeling like a ping pong ball. Some people laid off months ago are just now getting one of the states to accept the ball and pay them. Then there were the people who fell into the independent contractor trap not realizing that all that extra money from paying your own taxes wasn’t extra. First off, you get to pay all your taxes at a higher rate at least quarterly in advance. Secondly, you do not qualify for unemployment compensation. Those people really got screwed over because they didn’t understand the rules. Lastly, whereas I hear of people in other states renegotiating their home loans at rate of 3.5%, less than I originally got my mortgage some 40 years ago, in Florida, all you hear is foreclosure. We have a Republican governor and heavy local Republican government in SOFL who refused to play ball with Washington. They were all screaming Obama was to generous with Fidel Castro. The real reason is though people are losing their homes right and left, those with money are buying them left and right because property in Florida will always sell, eventually. Meanwhile, everyone below the upper 6 % with all the money get screwed. And lastly, it doesn’t matter what kind of credit you have, the credit card companies are screwing you over. Most interest rates are 28% or more. At 25%, in four years you have not only paid off the original debt but paid it double. At 33%, you pay it double in three years. Most of you have been paying on the debt for at least 5 years. You paid the original amount off years ago. Every payment you make now is pure profit for the credit card companies and always remember, they charge the merchant at least 3% for every transaction or 3 cents on every dollar you charge right up front. So in reality at 28% interest, they are really making at least 31% or 31 cents on every dollar they loan you the first year and 28 cents every year there after. Wouldn’t you like a job that paid like that? I know I would. I can’t wait for the day they want my business back….cackle…cackle…guess where you can put your credit card and I‘ll even help you out with it???? This week’s cancelled account will be with Roaman’s with whom I have had an account for over 10 years. Why? They are going to charge me 1.00 a month to send me a bill and they actually think I am going to pay it. Silly boys.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Here is a little article about Christmas Hams:

http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideOpinion.htm?f=2009/december/17/connieveneracion.isx&d=/2009/december/17

Now if you read it, you have discovered the ham is not Christian. However, they left out the old Druid tradition. A pig is fed hallucinogenic mushrooms for about a months. Pigs have a the unique ability to trap poisons in their fat cells and not be affected by them. Thus, they can eat almost anything with no ill effects. When slaughtered, the Druid was rubbed in the fat and the alkaloids were absorbed through the skin. Then the Druid was brought out to do predictions for the coming year. Personally, I just have a nice ham dinner for New Years and call it even.
I spend the night suffering with a headache from the whack I gave myself on the freezer door. That thing is dangerous. This isn’t the first time I did this. I think I came close to giving myself a concussion. One problem is that my scalp is stretched so tight from the operation that it cannot give when hit and that causes a lot of pain. The headache is finally gone and I can do a few things.
BUT, it will not stop raining. We are still under a flash flood advisory. Tomorrow is guaranteed to be worse as the fronts collide and we then have wind with the rain. At one point in Palm Beach County, the same amount of rain was dropped in an hour as in three days from the last hurricane. They got over 4 inches of rain in an hour. It has just come down in buckets all day. Then, it is supposed to turn moderately cool and by that I mean 50’s at night. Where I am, we might hit 40’s. In the bathroom with the windows open, the humidity is so high I think I should be wearing a bathing suit. This is definitely NOT the area to be in for global warming but I can think of no way to get out.
Napoleon has been singing all evening. The other cats have figured out he gets them into trouble and thrown out of the room. So, they are all avoiding him. He is sure they aren’t that smart and I told them. All in all, I have cats with the rain jitters and lots of stuff hitting the floor.
The new boxes came in today! They are beautiful and I can’t wait to get them up on the web site. Unfortunately, rain makes the internet misbehave and I am scared of losing my whole web page during one of its dips in service.
Much to my total shock, the only bank or credit card company that has treated me decently is….. Are you ready?….. Bank of America. Every other company has raised interest rates. I paid Chase off last month and got a bill for 1.59. Okay, how do you pay a bill off on time and still owe them money? Most people would have thrown that new bill in garbage thinking it was just a zero balance statement and in a few months, you would have $29.00 or more late fees and be turned over to a collection agency. So watch Chase Bank. I know they and AMEX are advertising hard. That’s because every customer that could get out, did. They treat you like crap. They lie to your face and then deny the whole thing when you question all the fees you just got charged. AMEX will claim you have no limits on an account and then your card bounces and they declare you do have a limit but, they will not tell you what it is. Just pay cash. Neither of these companies is worth dealing with. Believe me. As a Merchant, I am cancelling AMEX and no longer accepting their cards. They want to charge me 7.95 a month to take their card and I see maybe two charges a year on their card. That’s how much people hate them.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Ah the insanity of it all. I was really hurting today where the doctor cut into my scalp but I decided that was not stopping me from doing the allotted task for the day. I was going to clean the veggie drawers and the bottom of the refrigerator. I almost survived the task when I straightened up and whacked myself on the freezer door right in the spot where he carved on me. I couldn’t even cuss it hurt so much. I am nauseous it hurts so much. One of the days I will find the man, and it was a man because no woman is this stupid, who put the freezer on the top if the refrigerator because you spend all your time opening the freezer and I am going to beat him to death with a freezer door. Yes, I know they have them on the bottom now if you have a life savings to spend, but they came out exactly two weeks after I had to buy mine because the old one died.
And that is my story with technology. Whatever I buy, the better version will come out two weeks, or two minutes if it is electronics, after I make the purchase. It is like the cats. The Goddess always sends me the old, the mentally challenged and the demented ones.
I got one drawer cleaned and except for 4 tomatoes, I am out of veggies. Thus, I must go to Western Meats and replenish my supply of salad makings. By the way, I don’t know about the expensive ones, but the Hefty green bags really work. I think I will see if I can get the drawer back in the fridge without killing myself.
Well, I got it back in but it didn’t go so well. I almost passed out.
I finished Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Born of Night last night. It is a good book. You will find the alternative universe engrossing. The action is fast paced. I do love her writing. Here’s a quote from the book to get you tempted:
“We’re not the ones who are sick, mu Tara (my lady). With us - the predators - you know what we will do and why we do it. What we’re capable of. We make no bones about it and we wear the uniform so that you can see us coming. The who are sickening are the cowards who masquerade as sheep. The ones who lull you into trusting them and smile at your face while they plot your downfall behind your back for any number of psychotic reasons. The friends who turn on you out of jealousy and greed. Who try to ruin you for no reason at all. They are the ones who should be put down.”….. “And they are the ones who are truly sickening.”

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Have you ever noticed how when something goes wrong on the computer, you either hit the keys harder or really click hard on the mouse? It has no effect, but you keep doing it.
I have the most full proof security system on the internet. Even if you hijack my password file, it is pretty darned useless. You see, I never figured out how to correct it, so just about every stored password or user ID has a spelling error or something more fatal. I just automatically correct it when it fills them at the pages. Some times being dyslexic has advantages.
My headache started at 1 AM and remained until 5:30 PM. It is times like this when I get the sinus, migraine, tension and cluster headache all in one that the guillotine seems like a viable medical procedure. The FDA can shove their recommended limits on aspirin today. All of this was precipitated by me hitting the cook instead of timer button on the microwave. I am going to buy a timer. This is the second time. The first time there was nothing in the microwave. This time there was and I have a horrible mess to clean up, if it actually ever works again. I am still scrapping and cleaning and trying to get the smoke out of the house. I do worry about the cats. None of them panicked. They should panic.
Folks, this new Medicare provision to replace the public option has me very worried. So far I have been dealing with two of the biggest insurance companies, who collect obscene premiums on George and I and pay out as little as is possible. There is a box on every one of the claim forms where you state you are not eligible for any other medical insurance, and that includes Medicare. You may never have seen that box if you just go in and pay your co payment. You checked it at the beginning of the year, and are legally bound to notify them of any change to the provision. George is going to get bumped out of the private insurance when he turns 65, but with this new “gift” from the Conservatives, we may both find ourselves on medicare next year and it will not pay the expenses. Medicare doesn’t negotiate fees with doctors to get the lowest price, they just pay a customary fixed fee. No one wants to take them because it takes 90 days in most cases to get paid. Without the insurance company negotiating fees with doctors, that is the end of co payments. That means if the doctor charges 225.00 for a visit and Medicare pays on a sliding scale of 65.00 for the visit and your insurance company considers 100.00 a customary cost, they are going to pay 40% (now everyone will be out of plan) of the 35.00 difference and you are going to owe the doctor over 135.00 instead of your current 35.00 co payment. The Insurance Companies are going to be elated. They just cleared their roles of clients over 56 and cut their expenses probably by 50%. Businesses will be getting a nice break on their insurance premiums and you are going to be screwed. This is one gift horse that requires you read the bill and then read your policy’s fine, fine print. Now, if they decide to be even more generous and include children in Medicaide, guess who will be at the free clinic instead of their pediatrician? I’ll give you a hint. It won’t be your Congressperson’s kids. Never let a committee who is in the hip pocket of the insurance companies write a medical reform package because you can be assured the two people not screwed will be the insurance companies and the congresspeople. They are counting on the fact that 95% of the people with insurance have never read their policies and don’t understand them so the bill looks just peachy. Oh, I was really happy for about 4 hours after I read it and then I went; WAIT A MINUTE. This is bad, very bad. I remember reading that Medicare provision on the insurance policy and George is nowhere near his birthday and he is being inundated with Medicare plans. I think they figure it will take 6 months to untangle what you are supposed to have and guess where they are getting his name and address? Yup, our lovely insurance company is giving that information out. They already have one foot on his backside and the door open.
Now before you local Tea Bagger tells you this is all wonderful and won‘t affect you, ask yourself one question; Has this person read my insurance policy?

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

There is not much to report today. I did not sleep last night. When your right shoulder hurts, the left side of your head and your back, getting comfortable is impossible no matter how good the bed. I finally got 3 hours sleep this afternoon and that refreshed me enough to get a little work done.
Gee I hope I can find the book I was going to review tonight. It turns out Flame Microwit is a book eater. Two of my paperbacks have a huge whole in the corner of the cover and would be missing the corner had I not grabbed her. She targets book. Well, that revoked her invitation into the bedroom. Okay, got it.
Tempted by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast is A House of Night novel. They have all been well written with a tight plot line. However, you are going to feel like she forgot to write the last chapter or the last half of the book. Whereas all the previous books were self contained stories, leading into another story line but not leaving you dangling, this one smacks of an end of TV season show as you wait to see who shot JR. I mean, you turn the page and start wondering if the publisher forgot the last chapter. No point in shaking the book, it won’t fall out.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

I woke up with a Fibro attack and I swear even my aura was hurting. I am better now but the cats have been very quiet. George had a massive sinus attack so nothing much has been moving or doing around this place today.
I finished reading Divine Misdemeanors by Laurell K Hamilton. It is better than the convoluted previous ones as Meredith is now back in LA and out of the Faery Mound.
Every once in a while people ask me about doing magic at the holidays. There are two schools of thought, as usual, but the one thing both agree upon is that it is a very unsettled time in the universe. On the one hand, when things are in a state of flux, it is easier to push them to a desired outcome. On the other hand, it also makes the outcome more variable. So my answer is always, do so at your own risk.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER

Today Boogaboo learned to sing. Singing cats and headaches do not mix. Fiona has once again proven she can shred any piece of paper in existence, so if you need any confetti, she is available for hire. Flame has totally come out of her shell and I can’t figure out how to stuff her back in it. She haunts the kitchen counter next to stove standing on her hind legs on the water fountain reservoir. I have to get you a picture of it. She is a cheese eater and is fond of the expensive sharp cheddar cheese. I would get a kitten with expensive tastes. The rest of the time she spends dangling out of the cat log in the hallway collecting a toll as you pass. No toll, you get claws.
The weather man promised it would clear up for the last half of the day. He lied. It has rained all day. At one point I couldn’t even see the front fence. This has been one wet and dreary day and from the looks of things, the temperature didn’t even drop. It is still 77 except now it is about 100% humidity! Welcome to SOFL which is apparently the place not to be during global warming.
Remember the grandmother I told you about last night and my comment about a war zone. Let me explain because the reporter, being thoroughly disgusted, made certain we understood. Even though they had a crystal clear video of the two men trying to break into the woman’s car with her grandson and purse inside, because they didn’t succeed in either stealing the purse, the kid or the car, the police are not even looking for them. Face the facts folks. If it is a juvenile that whacks you in the head and takes your wallet, they have a get out of jail free card and no record. If it is an adult, they will be on the street just a little slower. By the time anything is done, they have a record pages long and someone is dead because the police only have the time and money to go after serious crimes like murder and violent rape. You are on your own.
In another story on the pagan wires today, a man in Alabama claiming to be a Druid worshiping the Goddess Epona repeatedly raped an underage girl over a period of time. The reporter was pretty disgusted, too. He made a point of pointing out the guy was in jail, if he hadn’t bonded out by now. Just as a point of record, no Druid rites involve sex and we do not worship the Goddess Epona, but I sure hope one her minions kicks him in the family jewels.
