I woke at the usual time and opened my eyes to see an orange chrysanthemum wearing white tights dancing the Highland Fling on top of the armoire. So I did what any sensible person would do. I watched for a minute and closed my eyes. Then I went through the possibilities. Number one is; I am still asleep. Nope, when you wake up call is Napoleon jumping in the middle of your stomach, you are definitely awake. Number two is the pharmacy sent me the wrong blood pressure medicine yesterday and this stuff has quite a street value. Will check that one later. Three: this is an after image but the room is very dark because of my migraines, so most of the Universe is grey and white. I know there is nothing orange over there and after images do not dance the Highland Fling, even in Scotland. Four is even simpler, the Fae are playing with me again, but why??? Well, I cleared all of the first three. I have the right meds, there is nothing orange over there at all not being one of my favorite colors and I am awake. So why were the Fae playing with me. As it turns out, by the time I got here at the shop I realized I was way sicker than I thought I was and they were trying to delay me and keep me at home. Their methods leave a bit to be desired. I mean an orange chrysanthemum in white tights. What sort of symbol is that?????

I thought I would start with a quote from small but powerful book: A Survival Guide for Landlocked Mermaids by Margot Datz. “Hang on to your integrity and misbehave with dignity.” This is a lovely, inspiring book for any female no matter what her age.
Purrbah is still locked in spin cycle with his tail. Napoleon is still making it impossible for me to work at home. How can you type with a Napoleon draped over your wrist? The flu is not making life easier and I have appointments on Tuesday. Ah the wonderful world of the business owner.

Now for those of you who are on the side of different and wondering a little about the military, here are some startling statistics: 60% of military chaplains and 40% of military personnel define themselves as Evangelic Christian whereas only 15% of the population at large define themselves that way. You might want to read Faith and Magick in the Armed Forces - A Handbook for Pagans in the Military by Stefani E. Barner before you think you found a quick way to get a job or an education. Heck, you might want to read it if you are anything but mainstream, non-Catholic Christian. It’s a sobering thought when you consider the person sending you out on a mission may think you are already condemned to their Hell.
This has nothing to do with anything but eating. Arnold’s has what they call sandwich rounds. They look like flattened muffins. I got the whole grain ones and they are delicious. They are precut and only 100 calories. They are easier to handle than regular square bread.

Yesterday I told you about the Kitchen Witch’s Guide to Divination. What if I told the good time just keep coming because for those of you convinced you haven’t a psychic bone in your bodies but you know you are Wiccan, there is another book of fun stuff: Kitchen Witch’s Guide to Magickal Tools by Patricia Telesco. Yes folks, you need those Magickal Tools. Tools are good. Remember back in the old days when you tried to crack a nut with your hands and got a nice bruise for you efforts. Then you discovered rocks and got a smashed nut. Eventually someone came up with a nutcracker. Well, that is the reasoning behind a magical tool. Instead of keeping your finger sticking out there to direct energy, you use a wand and you can do something else with your finger. Okay, that’s simple but it’s the real reason we use tools. This little books is help you design and build your own tools and altar! You will even learn the basics of drum making, broom construction and a whole bunch more. There is even a chapter on costumes. For only 13.99, you are going to love this book and I only have one. I am trying to get more in.
Last night Purrbah found his tail and started a new exercise called spinning. He was still at it this evening. That cat is demented. Eventually he will catch and bite his tail and thus once again affirm it is his and his alone.
I have the Lu. Yup, the Lu. I am immune to the swine portion of the flu so I am suffering from the avian and human part. Little fever, one eye hurts and one side of my throat is sore with occasional coughs. Dayquil and Nightquil are kicking it in the genes so I am not worried. I am more irritated. I am not well enough to do anything I need to do or go out and not sick enough to pull the covers over my head. Next time California sends me something, I have an order of stock they can enclose with it. Yup, turns out it isn’t Mexican after all. It was kicking around good old California which then seems to have infected Mexico. Seems as though if you are over 50 you have nothing to worry about. Of course, you had it in the 70’s! However, it does make a great diet. I do not feel like eating anything at all.

‘Tis the week for really good books to arrive. This was my first foray into Patricia Telesco’s Kitchen Witch series though I have read and enjoyed her other books. The Kitchen Witch’s guide to Divination is jam packed with fantastic information. On the cover it says it is a book about: “finding, crafting and using fortune-telling tools from around your home”. That is about as descriptive of the detail inside as saying the dictionary has words in it. I mean, there is a section on using regular playing cards, Monopoly cards, Runes, divination coins, boards…….FOOD! This is a small book only 218 pages but I expect it to explode at any moment it has so much in it! At only 13.99, it is way under priced for its content. You can even learn the basics of reading coffee grounds….
Which brings me to coffee. There was a survey that said the best tasting coffee is 8 O’clock and it is the cheapest. Well, I have using it for two bags now - I grind my own - and I will say if you are a Starbucks or like a little bite to your coffee, as everyone seems to, buy a bag. You’ll same almost half the cost of those designed labels. However, if you are fan of the milder versions like Jamaican and so forth, you may need to weaken it a bit.
Coffee has a bad rap. Everyone talks about Tea Ceremonies. The spiritual value of making tea is touted. Well, I am not very spiritual in the morning. When I first wake up, going spiritual just puts me back me back to sleep. I like the measuring out of the beans, the violence of the grinder as it liberates the essential oils in the beans and the boiling of the grounds as the aroma comes forth to tease my brain into waking. I’ve tried caffeine in other forms…even green tea capsules…but it just doesn’t work as well as good old coffee. So save your tea for evening. I need my coffee! And…so does Purdy von Sweets. She sits by the bread maker as I grind the coffee beans waiting for her pinch of fresh ground coffee, which she eats.
Purrbah has a finger fetish. He wants to spend all night licking my fingers. I am lucky I have any skin left after last night’s orgy of finger licking. Why would a cat want to lick perfectly clean hands? I have no idea on this one. By the time Purrbah settles in beside me and Napoleon on top of me, I am ready for someone to dump ice on me! That huge cooler George bought for the shows is looking very inviting.

Coffee has a bad rap. Everyone talks about Tea Ceremonies. The spiritual value of making tea is touted. Well, I am not very spiritual in the morning. When I first wake up, going spiritual just puts me back me back to sleep. I like the measuring out of the beans, the violence of the grinder as it liberates the essential oils in the beans and the boiling of the grounds as the aroma comes forth to tease my brain into waking. I’ve tried caffeine in other forms…even green tea capsules…but it just doesn’t work as well as good old coffee. So save your tea for evening. I need my coffee! And…so does Purdy von Sweets. She sits by the bread maker as I grind the coffee beans waiting for her pinch of fresh ground coffee, which she eats.
Purrbah has a finger fetish. He wants to spend all night licking my fingers. I am lucky I have any skin left after last night’s orgy of finger licking. Why would a cat want to lick perfectly clean hands? I have no idea on this one. By the time Purrbah settles in beside me and Napoleon on top of me, I am ready for someone to dump ice on me! That huge cooler George bought for the shows is looking very inviting.

It is day three of the cat log wars or in keeping with the new nonsense from the CDC, CLW3. Let me explain. A cat log is a carpet covered round log that stands on its end and has three holes. In the beginning the Kitwits were small and all four fit on the top circle. Then they grew and investigated the other holes when created CLW1, when the Kitwits tried to take the bottom hole from Princess Probe 2. Eventually, Probe abandoned the hole for a comfy chair and the Kitwits decided they didn’t want the bottom hole. Unfortunately, all four no longer fit on the top. This led to CLW2, when the Kitwits began to fight to see who got the top, which was solved when only a maximum of two Kitwits that fit were moved out by assorted Oldenkits. Then occupancy of the cat log varied by night, temperature and mood. The Prescious decided to take over the top of the cat log and received no challenges for two weeks, until the night Josephina decided to take control and hence began CLW3. Last night, Purrbah unseated Josephina and I had to unseat Purrbah or listen to Prescous scream all night. And so it began anew after breakfast….after lunch and I have no idea who is where because I am hiding at the shop. In the process of this war, the cat log, which weighs a ton, was knocked over at least once. It is constantly moving down the hallway. Aerial bombing by Kitwits occurs off the bathroom and hall doors. Poor Prescious just wants a quiet place for his 23 hour nap.
Pandemic Tips: If you read Tarot Cards and you are crazy or lazy enough to insist the client shuffle and choose cards, you are creating a nice little Petri dish of germs on your cards. So you had best have the hand sanitizer ready for both of you.
As psychics we are really at risk here. Most of us have compromised immune systems and for some reason people simply expect us to be all touchy-feely. This Flu may provide us an excellent moment to set some limits. I had Swine Flu during the 70’s outbreak when I was young and healthy. I wasn’t so healthy right afterwards. That was the beginning of my Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My diagnosis with Lupus came a few years later. Bottom line is: I was never healthy, energetic or pain free after my bout with just plain swine flu.
I just got in a couple of copies of Bird Signs: Guidance and Wisdom from Our Feathered Friends. It has a really, really nice box. This not one of those as soon as I take the shrink wrap off it is going to start falling apart boxes. It is a hard, cardboard stationary type box. The cover opens and you pull the tray containing the book and 52 cards out with a lovely ribbon. The paperback book inside is 5 x 7 x .5 inches, the cover is designed with crease so you open the little book without breaking the spine. Inside you have a color picture of each card and a detailed description of the bird, its inspiration, healing color, and message in key word format. Then you even get a physical description of the bird and wonderful lore and the messages they bring. Various spreads are also covered. This is no little folio scrunched into a tarot deck. The cards are full sized and in color. A drawn picture of the bird is on the back, with its name and a keyword. On the back you have two pastel, almost water colored feathers. It is written by G.G. Carbone and illustrated by Mary Ruzicka. I highly recommend this for all your bird loving friends. It is well worth the 24.95. I wish I wasn’t so allergic to feathers!!!

Loki’s cat wisdom of the day: Once you go fresh catnip you will never go back. And thus my fingers were nipped and he followed me around the shop screaming. It is just a little plant. There are just so many leaves I can remove and he swallows them whole! Now they all have the munchies.
Re the Pandemic: In a famous science fiction work there is the following quote: “Magic is nice but steel always works.” In the Flu World there is another: “Clorox always works.” Keep that in mind before you panic after running out of masks and sanitizers. It will eat a sprayer so expect to only get once use out of the sprayer unless you use the Clorox cleaner made for the sprayer. Common sense will keep you safe. Keep your hands away from your face. Get your cart in the parking lot when shopping and wipe the handle before handling. That thing is a germ condo. Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing even if you don’t have the flu. Why? Because the first thing you do is take a really deep breath and that may infect you! Remember, the bathroom tends to be the most sanitary place in most public location because it is constantly cleaned, unlike everything else in the store! Hand washing requires soap and 2 - 4 minutes to be really clean.
I am afraid finances caused me to miss the spay deadline in Bitwit’s biological clock. So just as I am ready to take her in, she begin serenading me and I have to wait until this episode is over. I am afraid the little thing is not getting any bigger and she shall remain one of the little cats. Unfortunately she seems to have a big pair of amplifiers in there somewhere or a bullhorn.

Healing is an art and energetic healing takes almost as much training as the regular medical kind. The difference between the two is the medical doctor seldom hurts himself whereas the energetic healer can hurt themselves really bad.
There are two basic laws in the Universe that even science will attest to. Nature abhors a vacuum. Scientists use rooms full of equipment just to create a tiny vacuum and it will try to collapse the container. All things seek equilibrium. Two connected containers of water will eventually reach the same level. Everything works that way.
What this has to do with energetic healing is simple. You should not be giving your energy to someone in healing. There is an abundance of energy in the universe and that individual has all the energy they can contain at this moment. Refer back to the vacuum and equilibrium. What the energetic healer does provide is a healthy pattern and by imposing that pattern over the unhealthy pattern, energy is attracted to the person to form a healthy energetic pattern and health is slowly restored as energy flows into them in the new pattern. Sometimes, energetic voids, creatures, odd growths, etc must be removed prior to healing. The wound where they were living must be cleaned and closed and a healthy pattern placed over it for the healing energies to attach to. Don’t forget to properly dispose of these toxic energy thingies…how’s that for a scientific name? Otherwise, they are going to lay around and attach to the same person or a new person.
I had to settle the Kitwit/Oldenwit war today before I could leave for the shop. The Kitwits decided to take the cat log back after Prescious had claimed it for almost a week. Josephina has claw attached and I had to dislodge each little paw to take it back for him. It was either that or know that Prescious el Clutso was destroying my bedroom as I worked all day. His main philosophy is: I will reach the top of the hill if I have to take the mountain down with me.

Josephina has claw attached and I had to dislodge each little paw to take it back for him. It was either that or know that Prescious el Clutso was destroying my bedroom as I worked all day. His main philosophy is: I will reach the top of the hill if I have to take the mountain down with me.
