The Real Secret to Happiness and Success

You read the book, saw the video and heard about it ad nauseum. Now I'm going to tell you the real secret because the rest of it is a load of manure.

If you want to really be happy and successful, consider what you don't need. It's really simple.

Did your neighbors get a new luxury car? Instead of pining for one better, stop and think about whether you really need that car or would a nice used van or pickup be a better choice? Do you really need those payments and giant insurance policy they now have? Do you really need the latest fashion that is uncomfortable and doesn't really fit you? Do you really want to spend hours in the beauty parlor chair so you can look like someone else? Do you need a promotion or do you really need a job you enjoy or would life be much better if you just learned to enjoy the job you have?

Ever see a hamster on an exercise wheel? The poor baby never figures out no matter how fast he goes, he stays in the same place. Is that your life? There is no point in moving if you carry everything with you from the previous location. The problem is not your job, your life, your friends or your lack of money. The problem is your SELF. The only person who can complete you is you and the only person who can make you happy is you.

Now that you have discovered the secret of life and happiness, I have to warn you of the dangers. People do not like happy people. They will try to destroy you and your happiness. They can't do it because the happiness is within and not out side of you where they can grab it and crush it. It will be very frustrating for them and in a perverse way, that makes me happy.

The simple truth is that if you are not hungry and you have shelter from the elements, you have everything you need. It is a beautiful planet. Get out and enjoy it. Life is too short to worry about what other people think. Try worrying about what you think for a change. If you spend your life reaching for things, you are going to have a back ache, a dislocated shoulder, a pain in the neck and poor eyesight.
