Well, I was standing outside in 1977 in Miami when I looked I looked at George and said, “It’s snowing!” He had never seen snow and it was falling. Today it snowed in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties. I am freezing. The cats are cold but Napoleon bit the bullet, crawled into my lap and offered his stomach as a heating unit for my hands. Poor little XP is just one huge ball of fur he is so cold. The most popular location in the house is next to the two space heaters. Unfortunately, we have to keep moving them around to keep the house bearable. Houses in SOFL are not insulated and are not designed for heating. We design for cooling. Of course, this means we are going to have one horrible, hot summer. These swings in temperature are caused by, the earth trying to equalize the effects of global warming, the thing anyone with a vested interest in not reducing carbon emissions is claiming doesn’t exist. Well, stick around boys and girls, it is going to be a rough ride.
The plastic spring toys I bought the cats are finally catching on. Napoleon is running around with one in his mouth. The way that cat runs through the house knocking it from front paw to front paw, he would make one soccer player! Boogaboo and Mr. B are starting to figure out something is up. Their doctor’s appointment is on Wednesday.
If you have a Paypal account, visit it now. They changed the rules again and you have to verify your credit card back up by giving them code on your statement. AMEX will not cooperate with them and I had to replace the card with another one.

Although I heard it with my own ears and I spent two nights in Orlando sleeping under my coat in a heated hotel room, I simply do not believe the weatherman said snow flurries in Orlando and on the Treasure Coast tomorrow evening! Freezing rain tonight. There was PINK on the weather map! Dear Goddess, it is 61 now and falling fast. Tomorrow will be dark, rainy and cold. I have to bring the plants in early.
Napoleon has defined soup and salad as Turtle and my Oncidium Orchids. I was not happy. I worked hard to get those little orchids to what was their current size. Now they are much shorter. Turtle did not appreciate being thought of as food, either. However, Napoleon, taking a page from Catbert’s book, said that reality is proportional to the number of witnesses. Well, I caught him with a leaf in his mouth. I can match the teeth marks!
This being the first semi warm day, found the cats in a spring mood knocking the Universe down, again. Oh well, tomorrow is Saturday and I can start the picking up. Tonight I have to retrieve the plants. Tomorrow night I have to cover them again. Amazingly, my Datura still has a bud on her.
Now on a serious note, please pay attention. I often hear the refrain that starts with; what is wrong with me, from perfectly lovely, good people. They have met the “one”, their “soul mate” and it just didn’t work out or they were rejected outright and often rather harshly. Listen carefully. There is NO single “soul mate”. There are a series of people you were to interact with in this reincarnation. The very fact that you are a good person demonstrates you worked on yourself, you evolved and are reaching for your highest vibration. There is no guarantee that the people you were to interact with are going to put the same amount of effort in. How many times could you have thrown up your hands and taken the lowest road? We all have free will. They failed, you didn’t and there is nothing wrong with you. You just have to be open the next person on your list and move on. It isn’t your fault. They simply didn’t make the cut this time around and there is nothing you can do for them. Life is a do it yourself project. What you make of yourself is your own doing.

I over did it yesterday with a trip to BJ’s, Western Meats and the Watermill in the cold weather and had a set back today. Maybe tomorrow will be better. At least the seedlings are back outside for a day and a half getting watered and solar powered for their weekend in the house. I am thinking of putting wheels on my grow boxes. No, not really but I am going to build a frame around them for sun screen and for plastic cold protection. This global warming really sucks big time.
I never thought I would be glad to see 53 degrees this time of night but it beats 40. The cats kept me warm all night. I even had Lady Jayne in bed with me, under the covers, purring profusely. As long as our agendas match, the cats are very cooperative.
Some days, I’m not psychic, just logical. Today’s speech on how we almost had another exploding airplane simply brought out what I have been saying for the entire Bush administration. Nothing was done security wise except reward a bunch of his cronies with sweetheart contracts to wave wands over people at airports, inconvenience thousands of travelers and sell old forms of Xrays that don’t come with safety standards. The Christmas incident occurred exactly the same way 9/11 occurred. His daddy’s cronies in intelligence were still playing macho hide the info games. Let’s hope someone’s head rolls on this one and we get some actual professionals working there before something else happens.
What am I talking about with Xrays? Have you ever noticed those lead aprons when you go in for an xray? Have you noticed the person standing behind a thick lead shield operating the equipment at your hospital? Have you noticed that isn’t happening in airports? Think about it. Frequent traveler? How much have you been exposed to in the name of security that obviously doesn’t work? Where did all this equipment materialize from? Could it be recycled medical equipment thrown out because it was labeled too dangerous by today’s standards? Every time someone asked those questions under Bush, the flag pin came out and 9/11 was the answer. Let’s see what the answer is in 10 years when cancer shows up. As for me, I’m driving everywhere.
For the first time in years, instead of buying a spiral ham and warming it, which is what you do. They are precooked. I bought a real ham and cooked it. Now, do not get me wrong, spiral hams are great and taste great, but even George has admitted they cannot hold a candle to home cooked, apple wood smoked ham falling off the bone and melting in your mouth. Of course, you are left with the huge bone which we sat on the floor on newspaper in a dish. Now, which cat do you think tried to remove the bone from the dish before it had a chance to even slightly cool? One of the boys? Rusty J Hoover the cat vacuum? Napoleon the undisputed King of the House? No, the Queen of the Known and Unknown Universes, the Lady Jayne herself grabbed a mouthful and tried to run. It proved to be too much, too hot and too heavy. She has refused a meat offering and will settle for nothing but that huge bone which she is watching like a hawk. Well, it will eventually cool down. Now, I must put some beans on to soak. It is going to be a cold weekend…..

When the winter season rolled around, all my farming games pulled out the snow and the snowmen and the winter stuff. I decorated my farms, turned on the falling snow and it was pretty. Now after two nights in the 30’s and more to come this weekend, it is not pretty. It is not cute. I will never be a northerner. I hear Mexico is nice this time of year, maybe Guatemala. The cats and I are ready to emigrate. If it starts snowing, I am packing! Adios!
I have so many plants in the kitchen, I have can’t cook without moving things. I am really blaming Turtle because I had to go OUSIDE and clean her tank. Then she got nice warm water and is having a great night in the kitchen with the space heater. I, unfortunately, get too hot with the oil heater and had to put it in the bathroom. So, I do get cold at night but with my operation and healing scars, I am better off cold than hot…..or so the surgeons keeps telling me. I bet he has central heating in his house… L
The only good thing I can think of is the potato vines will all be dead tomorrow or at least by the beginning of next week making it easy to rake up the tubers and put them out of my misery. I know they are pretty to you northerners with their huge tropical leaves but they are an invasive vine down here. Hopefully I can nail most of them before spring reincarnates them with a vengeance.
Hey, at least I have cats and last night I was covered with them. They are really enjoying Mommy allowing them to sleep with her, although none of them actually want under the covers. I guess I don’t have any undercover cats. As soon as I am up, they attach to the space heater like lice. These are not snow cats. Even Lady Jayne with her Persian coat, is looking for a warm spot. Poor little Purdy von Sweets, who has the shortest hair I have ever seen on a cat, is curled up in the cat log looking miserable and she is just a few feet from the heater. How do you say meow in Spanish? That cats really want to know.

Last night reading the Costco coupon book I got something I have not had in over a year working on the computer: a paper cut! It happen right on my mouse button finger. I couldn’t use the mouse. It hurt horribly and remember all the pain I’ve been through this year. I am ready to go out in into the cold and hold a protest sign to get disability benefits for victims of paper cuts. I couldn’t even wash the dishes. This is terrible.
Often people want a quick solution to all their problems. Well, I found one. Yes, folks, read this article, understand it and you will be successful, happy and fulfilled. I am not kidding. The cats have been destroying everything today. I just watched Purrbie stand up on his hind legs, grab the top of my stack of books and pull them over. Anyone want some cats? Today they are free. And then Purdy von Sweets, who started this rampage, so gently and timidly crawls into my lap and begins to purr, looking up at me so chagrinned, and again I am suckered into the cat zone…..where I worship them and care for their every need. The Green Eyed Monster strikes and Napoleon must crawl into my lap, too.
Most of the plants are tucked into the house. Many are covered with sheets. The cats are glued to the heaters and their humans. Good night all.

The temp is down to 48 and there isn’t a heater left in a store anywhere…trust me, we looked tonight. At least I found a nice thick nightgown. Then we went out to dinner at Burger King. We haven’t eaten out in months. I discovered Prescious eats not only hamburger but French fries. Well, I couldn’t eat the whole thing anyway.
Life was going well and Prescious, all twenty some pounds of him, crawled up on my shoulder. This I could deal with but the Green Eyed Monster struck and Napoleon, who is no light weight, climbed onto the other side quickly, and I was pinned. I managed to mistype an email to George and he came in and took Prescious off me!
Last night I was a comfy hotdog in cat bun. I was warm all night and then I had to get up. Within in a hour I swear my feet were colder than most ice cubes. It just got colder. Fortunately George found one of the missing heaters when he got home and now it is getting nice and warm in here but my feet are still cold.
The interesting discovery of the night was two female blackbirds in Walmart. One was hiding out over the pet department and the other was in the inside garden department. Now, they know how to keep warm!
I have been trying to catch up all day and failing miserably. That’s what happens when the flu pays you a visit. I am glad to say that except for a sore throat and sneezing, I am definitely on the mend, just in time for the work week. Isn’t that how it always works???
Boogaboo is the sweetest cat in the Universe. He just flops on my lap and purrs up a storm. He never puts his claws out and lets me clip his claws except he doesn’t want to put them out for me just because he doesn’t like to extend them period. Mr. B is equally as sweet and gentle. Now, the sisters are not as gentle. Fiona is as cute as they come and unbelievably small. She looks more like a 3 month kitten than the 8 month young lady she is. Flame is bigger and there is not a crack she will not try to get through. Don’t ask what color she is because I would have to say a Picasso cat. She is all colors and all patterns meshed together.

This is the first time since I started doing the forecasts three years ago I have missed a weekend except when I was stranded in Homestead with no internet access. I am sorry but this is one mean flu.

I have been sick since Christmas Eve, but not as sick as I have been the last couple of days. When my temperature peaked at 101.9, there was no place I did not hurt. I do not mean ache, I mean hurt like someone was hitting me with their fist. I have been doubled over with cramps from my bikini line to my breasts for three days. This is the first day I have been completely upright and the flu is moving. It is now in my throat and my chest. That is never a safe thing for an asthmatic.
Nor is cold weather a good thing. For some reason it is harder for me to breathe in cold weather than warm and it has nothing to do with the humidity. By the time I ran out and gathered my seedlings, I was wheezing. My tomatoes, peppers, basil, lettuce and some flowers are on the stove enjoying a nice warm kitchen. It doesn’t look like they will be seeing the outside until way after Wednesday. It is 49 degrees right now and since I am inland, there are freeze warnings. This is the longest cold spell we have had in years.
The cats are all nuts as the static electricity annoys their fur. At least that is my theory on why they are grouchy. I am probably wrong because they are quickly driving me insane.
Am I the only one who is slightly bothered by the heavy makeup the mayor of Miami is wearing on screen when he giving a supposed impromptu press conference? I mean, if he were a cross dresser, it really wouldn’t bother me and the make up job would definitely be better. Are the tax payers paying for someone to follow him around with a makeup kit? How much is this person being paid, because I can do a much better job…..
This year and month is a dyslexic’s nightmare. I am having fits trying to write the date. Forgive any typos, I am not myself yet.
