Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit
Hanukkah Begins
According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is Indigo and the incense is Sage.
FORECASTS:
Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.
Today’s Tarot Card is the Three of Pentacles: foundation. It is time to update, modernize and focus on new things.
Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
Change and communications are in effect today. Since it is fairly aspect free, you can really get a lot one today.
Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
Creative expression is not favored today. Just work on the mundane.
Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Democat: “Stand up for what you believe in.”
Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
This may be confusing. It is the undressing of the salad. What the card shows is a large number of Fae trying to balance balls which they are doing a great job of. However, in order to pick up another ball, one of the balls will have to be dropped. This troupe may seem amusing but they are trying to tell you that you have too many balls in the air. It is the natural order of the Universe that some things must pass away for new ones to emerge.
Today’s Lo Shu Number is 6 and the Element is Metal. The Rooster finds conflict today. This is NOT an auspicious day for haircuts, writing, gambling, construction or births.
Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I recognize the Divine Self in each and everyone. I let go of all judgment. I am receptive to the highest and best in all. I love and acknowledge everyone as the expression of the Divine Will on earth.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.
COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
Well, it has happened. I have been trying to get on the internet all day along with millions of other people. Unfortunately, there just isn’t enough room. Everyone is blaming the web sites but the bottom line is that there are more people than space. Even if you have cable, at the company it goes to a phone line. The same is true with satellite. They all connect to the phone lines at some point, even your cell phones. With everyone trying to shop on the net for the holidays, very few are actually getting through. So don’t blame the poor web sites. They are trying as hard as they can to switch servers and stay up, they just plain can’t.
It has not been one of my better days. Purdy von Sweets got me out of bed at 6:45 AM EST. She meowed. She kneaded. She sang. She slapped me. She nudged me. She proved she could annoy a human with the best of them. I got up. Things were going well until I stepped in front of a fan and picked 5 cat hairs out of my eye and assorted stuff. Finally I had to lay down with eyes closed until it stopped hurting. I fell asleep and I do not nap well. I woke up feeling awful.
It was better than yesterday when I woke up with a full visual effect migraine in progress. Normally I just feel like someone is sticking a knife in my eye and my stomach is in full rebellion. This time, the world went Picasso. I am not kidding. I think I now know how he came up with his painting style. I would have panicked but I remembered from my book on the visual effects of migraines that this happens to people, rarely, but it happens. I managed to find a square with a circle in it in the corner of my visual field and realized it was the bottle of migraine pills in their box. I got two down, laid down and waited for it to pass. Nothing in this house happens without some feline intervention. Remember I said migraines come with nausea. Well, Napoleon picked that very moment to use the kitty pan and guys, he can beat you nose down. I managed to hold onto what wasn’t in my stomach and was really glad I had no late night snacks until the electric kitty pan cycled. Of course it sounded like a bull dozer on steroids and I am practically deaf, except during a migraine. Then the pills kicked in and life went back to semi normal.
Tonight we had not the turkey according to the cats. Yes, they have two meals now: turkey and not the turkey. However, there were no complaints about the BJ’s chicken. They also enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the Heinz turkey gravy. My cats are equal opportunity eaters. They eat anything. They love that gravy!
Mr. B came in today and he has never meowed or said anything. He began talking. He has quite the vocal range. He was carrying on a conversation. Since he has never talked before, I had no idea what he was saying. Then, he got up in the window and sang. Yes, he sang. He has a nice baritone voice it turns out. He finished his performance, came over and laid on my lap, chin up for his reward. This is a new side of him.
I have been picking Flame up and inspecting her feet. From the amount of stuff she knocks over, her feet have got to be as big as mine. Last night she took the little 3 drawer chest and a shoe box down. I have no idea how as they are flat on the table. Then a wave of destruction followed her to the door. Funny, they look small.
The good news is the carved Mango wood boxes shipped today. The chest has moved in with me. I swear it is snuggling up to me. Well, the other two shipped yesterday so I can afford to pinch one. I have not been able to put anything up on the web. I am scared to death I will take the page down and not be able to get it back up and lose all my work. Heck, it took me six tries to get my cakes out of the oven in Yoville. I was literally taking one out, losing the connection and going back in to get the next one. I am never getting enough coins to buy my UFO at this rate! I can’t even send email! Fortunately the incredimail program I use to pick the email up is very quick and it snatches it every time I manage a connection. However, sending is its second priority so that is not going well. Tomorrow is another day and maybe everyone will get off the net. I actually got a lot done until 9:30 AM when it went south.
Today’s award for finally doing something goes to the 9 month pregnant woman driving down the road who stopped and pulled some teenage thugs off the cop they were beating up while all those nice strong men just stood around watched. They didn’t even try to help her. Nice going guys. In a similar situation, use your car. It is a couple of tons of metal and people will move. Get the passenger side door next to the victim so they can crawl in and you can drive off. Folks, if anyone tries to get into your car or grab you through the window, hit the gas. If they reach through the window, hold onto them and hit the gas. At the very least you will dislocate their shoulder and that hurts like Hades. Even if you hit something, you can throw it in reverse and get out of there. Don’t be afraid to hurt them because they sure aren’t going to be afraid to hurt you. Down here, the police are visiting schools and teaching kids that if anyone tries to grab them, to bite, kick and scream. The days of being passive over. They are not going to leave you alone or alive. More than one child has been saved from rape or worse since the change in policy. Pretty much anywhere you live down here, you are pretty much in a war zone. You are going to have to learn to live in one. The fact that a grandmother locked the car with her little grandson and her purse in it while she went through the house to lock the doors, probably saved all their lives today. She couldn’t get the front door lock to work so she decided to lock it from the inside and go out the back. Thank the Goddess she had the forethought to lock the kid and her purse in the car and then go through the house and come around. She was being stalked by some men waiting for the chance to attack. They couldn’t get in the car and she was facing them, so they ran back to their waiting car. If her back had been to them while she fiddled with the lock at the door, they would have probably hit her in the head and grabbed her purse. Be aware of your surroundings. I sure am. I don’t cross the street to my mail box until I have noted every car, especially the parked ones. I calculate how fast I can move verses them and if the equation is not in my favor, I go back in the house. I know I have a stalker, but it could just as easily be someone looking to break in my house while I am walking across the street or abduct me. I hate living this way but the alternative is not living and I’ve spent enough time in the operating room this year!

Forecast and Faery Finder for 12/11/09
12-11-09
Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit
According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is Pink and the incense is Thyme.
FORECASTS:
Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.
Today’s Tarot Card is the Seven of Wands: fortitude. Illusion clouds the truth and maintaining your rational view is difficult. Stand your ground. Those that desert you are weak and you are better off without them. Those with self respect shall win in the end.
Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
The Moon enters Scorpio at 8:31 PM EST.
The morning brings financial opportunities via lessons learned in the past but becoming too emotional will nullify your gains. Keep it rational, calm and logical. The afternoon allows your intuition to kick into high gear. Romance is in the air. However, logic and seeing things clearly will be out until 8:31 PM EST when the moon enters Scorpio.
Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
Finding any quiet time today is next to impossible.
Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Catnap: “Take it easy. Curl up and relax.”
Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
The Oak Men are found in the deepest part of the forest. Although infinitely wise, what we normally want them to show us is the way out of the forest. Unfortunately, that doesn’t keep us from getting lost again.
Today’s Lo Shu Number is 7 and the Element is Metal. The Monkey find conflict today but the Dog and Boar have a great day. Today is an auspicious day for haircuts, medical procedures, writing, gambling, construction and births.
Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I now face people and situations with courage.
I express myself freely and all conflicts are resolved in a balanced and open way for the mutual benefit of everyone.”
I proclaim and manifest the power of my Higher Self with love, understanding and respect for others and myself.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.
COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
I am having the same symptoms I had after the operation so I am assuming more nerves are reconnecting. It is beyond annoying trying to scratch something that is numb

According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is turquoise and the incense is balsam.
FORECASTS:
Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.
Today’s Tarot Card is the Aeon: realization. A fresh new inner energy comes to the surface. Clarity allows you to focus on things that have eluded you. You can see the other person’s pint of view. Study interactions. This new energy you have found is here to stay.
Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
Energy is finally on the up swing and we are going to be able to get a lot done for the next week. The morning may start with arguments but it settles down by afternoon and things get much, much better.
Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
It is hard to stand your ground today, but you must.
Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Seacat: “Expand your horizons and your limitation will disappear.”
Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
The Pook is about. Oh, the Pook looks so sweet. Take a second look at those narrow eyes and little pouting mouth. Ignore the tattered wings, he probably got them that way doing something nasty. Don’t like that look? He’s got more. The Pook appears in whatever guise will confuse you the most. He loves to confuse, to show the good in the bad and the bad in the good. The latter is his favorite. He doesn’t create these paradoxes, he just shines them up and throws them in front of us and then skitters off, laughing himself silly. You will get a burst of insight, but probably a lot of cussing yourself out first. Best avoid that. He can create a paradox out of it!
Today’s Lo Shu Number is and the Element is
Today’s Message from the Universe is: “My difficulties, disappointment or apparent defeat are only signs indicating that my success is near. I use them to move forward and develop all my qualities. My final success will be even greater than I imagine.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.
COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
The turkey coma is receding. The cats are awakening. Things are breaking. That is the cycle of life. It has been almost two weeks since Thanksgiving and Rusty has finally found the open counter area I took the little toaster over off. I haven’t been using it for months since I got the big one. The big one doesn’t cook well but at least the food fits in it. Rusty is not too bright but he is one tough kitty. He has survived things that would have killed lesser cats. But he sure knew when his reflexes were slowing and being a feral was becoming a death sentence. He crawled in my lap outside and surrendered to the house, neutering and all it entailed for two safe meals a day. He may be a little slow but he isn’t stupid.
Last night Napoleon really beat his sister Purdy von Sweets up. They managed to get where I couldn’t get to them and he whacked her good. Finally emerged triumphant only to discover I do not tolerate that kind of behavior. He went totally limp on the way out of the room sure I would let him go. No dice. I put him in the scratching log, made him look me in the eyes and mine were not loving about then, and just stared at him. He blinked first because he knew he was in the wrong. He spent the night on something hard in the living room. This morning he slinked into the bedroom and I let him have his yogurt with me, but he has been on his best behavior all day. He needed a 10 hour nap to get over it. Poor little Purdy curled up in my arms and purred all night. She was really shaken. I don’t know what the argument was over, but it is settled. Mommy wins. Mommy always wins.
I had a big salad with some shrimp in it for dinner. I have discovered I am buried in email. I am going to have to just stop using one email address because it has been discovered by the Nigerian and 15 other country scam artists. I gave up on going back any distance in Facebook because if it doesn’t throw me out to someone’s page I get the message it isn’t working. I try to read something, the page jumps and I have to find it again. Thus, I am no longer even trying to keep up. It is too frustrating. I don’t think I am the only one. By the time they actually fix it, someone else will have taken their place.
What happened to customer service? Is it extinct? I tried to get a technical question answered by a service I work for. The reply was that they were sorry their operator was unable to answer my question would I like to try another operator. I AM the operator. I think that was a not so subtle hint I should fix it myself which eventually I did. However, I will be watching for my check just in case they think I owe them for working for them.
Doesn’t any one just take responsibility for their actions? All I hear are excuses and a lot of people who are even willing to put them in people’s mouths. Oh, she’s having a bad day. Me, too, but I still have manners. There is no excuse for bad behavior. I for one intend to walk out and not come back. I am seriously considering not shopping at one store because what ever is going on, the clerks are always unhappy and surly. You know what, when I worked retail that attitude would have gotten me fired. I don’t care if the boss had just reamed me out, a smile had better be plastered on my face when I hit the floor or I hit the door. In a world where 500 people are applying for one job, a lot of people are going to be learning that lesson. Your personal problems and business problems are gone when you put on that badge and head for your station. You don’t get paid to bitch and whine. You get paid to work. So, get over yourself. The rest of us really don’t care you are having a bad hair day. We just want to get through the line with a minimum of pain and suffering. We have jobs to do and bills to pay. Plaster a smile on your face and check me out. It gets easier with practice. Trust me. I could probably torture you while smiling sweetly it is so second nature at my age. Oops, sorry about the spilled blood, would you like some more pain with that? Have a nice day and come back and visit us soon. Yup, I could do it easily. I have worked a 10 hour shift to get a present for my mother in high heels (not wedges, not platforms, real 5 inch heels) with blisters on the bottoms and backs of my feet, in real hose (no pantyhose), girdle, long line bra, linen skirt and cotton blouse (neither of which could have a wrinkle in them on the floor; there was an iron in lounge.) and belt, standing at a register (not leaning or touching anything: you would be fired) that was slightly below shoulder level so you couldn’t slouch using it. Oh and no water bottle allowed at the register. You didn’t drink or eat until the break. And don’t forget the smile.. So, quit your bitching! And you’d better not show up with a bad hair day or you went home on your time until you met standards. No pants, we called them slacks, on the job and no flats; you wore heels. And you had better be clean, properly made up and well groomed. Male clerks wore a tie, white long sleeved shirts with cuff links, dark slacks, dress socks and black shoes..no sneakers, boys, and their hair was measured for length before they were allowed on the floor. And that dearies was the 60’s and 70’s. Oh yes, there were clubs to go to, more drugs than you have ever seen and plenty of stuff to do, but I had car insurance payments, money to give my family, college to pay for and books to buy. I went home and soaked my feet for an hour because I could barely stand up after work. So go to work and kiss your boss. It could be a lot worse.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
I was thinking today, since the cats have yet to emerge from the last turkey coma and things are quiet…and you know it is dangerous when I think….anyway…I was thinking; what went wrong? We have children killing children. The crime rate from teens in my neighborhood is astronomical…at least two calls per day on vandalism and theft.
I’ve heard a lot of theories. The top one is violence on TV. Oh come on…you couldn’t put the Three Stooges on TV without are an R rating today if that. The cartoons I watched were super violent and the characters survived anvils dropped on theirs completely flattening them. We didn’t poke each other’s eyes out and we couldn’t lift an anvil. There was no such thing as a gun safe and probably a loaded gun in every other house. We didn’t kill each other. We didn’t take guns to school. We all carried a pocket knife from about 5 up, but we didn’t knife each other. I wonder if it was because we had a healthy fear of our parents and they took the time to discipline us.
If I had ever walked through the door with something that didn’t belong to me, I had better have had a good story which would be instantly checked with my friend’s parents, not them. If any adult called and said I did something, I was not going to be asked if I did it. The smack came first and I knew it. So I didn’t do anything to provoke the bear. My room wasn’t mine. My parents owned the house and everything in it. I got privacy when I could pay rent or they just got better at searching.
When I got my first job or let me put it more accurately, my father got me my first job, I did not have a choice…..when I came home with my paycheck….twenty dollars went into their pockets. Back then, the check was only 50.00 for a week’s work. I didn’t tell him I made another twenty taking other people’s shifts for cash. I had learned to be sneaky, too.
You went to work at 16. That was the legal age. You wanted a car, you saved up and you bought it. You wanted to go to the prom, well, guys, you spent all year working after school and on weekends to pay for it. I remember my friend being so tired he made an entire order of whoppers without the hamburger patties one night. Working was no excuse for a low grade in school. It is possible we were too tired to get into trouble. I hear parents whining over two hours of home work a week in middle school. Two hours a night was a good night in my day. I didn’t have a computer to research on. I actually had to walk to the library and drag huge books down and …..shudder….hand write my notes and papers. No, I didn’t have time to break and enter. I didn’t have the energy to shoot my classmates…heck I didn’t even know three quarters of them…who had time? I wanted to get into college.
On the rare occasions we went out to eat, I didn’t run through the restaurant screaming and hitting the other patrons. I wouldn’t have been called spirited; I would have been a spirit. I don’t remember my parents ever asking me if I wanted something. If I didn’t eat it, I was hungry. It broadens your palate quickly. If I had ever talked back to, shoved, made fun of or in anyway harmed an elderly person or handicapped person…well, I am pretty sure I wouldn’t be writing this today.
I learned at a very early age..6..when I learned to count, that if mother said there was no money for anything extra when we left the house, I didn’t grab a candy bar, open it and have a tantrum. No, that tantrum would have turned into a little butt that didn’t sit down that night without a pillow. I never threw a tantrum. The first one taught me that lesson. I never asked for anything. I knew if there a quarter extra and I would carefully agonize over my choices at the candy counter. Funny, that candy tasted so much better back then than it does now. Maybe it is because I worked harder for it. I washed dishes, mopped floors, dusted, worked in my father’s shop until I was old enough for the new job. I didn’t get an allowance handed to me. There was a list of chores checked off each week. If they weren’t check off, I got no money. If I wanted a school lunch instead of a brown bag sandwich, I had to pay for it. I learned nothing in life was free before I was 7.
But before you think how horrible it was, let me point out one thing. We were a family. We all worked together to survive. We may not have liked each other, but we knew cooperation was the only thing that kept a roof over our heads and our bellies full. I may not have respected most of my elders, but I had good manners and that was what counted. I knew my parents didn’t love me. I was an inconvenience that showed up when my mother was 33 and they had their lives planned. I didn’t wind up whining to a therapist, attacking other people, stealing and leading a life of crime. I got over it, because the choices where limited. I was out of the house at 17 and on my own from that point forward. I was expected to support the family. I was expected to work. I paid for my own education. I knew how to survive and I knew one really important thing: no one owed me anything and no one was going to give me anything and that included the benefit of the doubt.
I remember telling that to my mentor in college, a PhD in psychology. The answer I got back was he would not even allow anyone to potty train his kids until THEY were ready. Yup, that would have flown in my house all right. I remember my cousin getting his nose rubbed in his soiled pants at two and I don‘t mean the outside. It didn’t happen again. I remember looking at my professor and saying, “Well, let’s see. Your son is in therapy, unemployed and still in college at 26 with an illegitimate kid and no prospects living with his mother. Your daughter is going sell the microwave you are buying her for drug money and lives in a tenement in squalor with three men. Just between you and me, I think you should have potty trained them.” A good smack now and then would have been helpful but I didn’t say that. Keep in mind both he and his wife had PhD’s in psychology.
The problem is not the TV, it is using the TV as a babysitter. The problem is throwing money at kids without making them work for it just to have some “me time“. My mother never had any “me time”. The problem is not teaching them respect at an early age. The problem is not teaching them limits because pushing the limits is all about being a child. The problem is being a friend and not a parent. The only people who have children as friends are pedophiles. You have to be the adult. You have to be the parent. That’s the job you signed up for when you popped that kid out. That’s why I have cats. I didn’t want the job.
Oh and don’t give me the broken family crap. Kids were shuffled between relatives (my mother was raised by her sisters and their husbands after her father died when she was 8. She spent every day taking care of their kids.), parents died, they split up..though divorce was a no no, moving in with your girlfriend wasn’t. Kids went into foster care. Probably half my parents’ friends were alcoholics. It was common back then. Parents beat their kids for no reason and no one did anything. There was plenty of domestic violence. Goddess knows, I help my mother patch up enough of her friends and sisters. I remember my uncle over 6 foot tall getting drunk and taking a swing at my aunt who was 5 foot 1 in heels. He missed. She picked up the cast iron frying pan and didn’t. He never did that again. He also never chewed anything hard again because there was no money for a doctor to wire his broken jaw and my father had to tape and tie it shut until it healed. Kids died because there was no affordable medical care, as did adults. There wasn’t even insurance back then. The cops didn’t make domestic violence calls and child abuse was discipline. I remember my father going over and explaining to one friend why you shouldn’t beat on your wife and kid. The explanation involved 5 broken ribs, a broken nose and internal injuries but he was good husband after that. He didn’t call the cops because he didn’t want to find out what they could do with a night stick and he didn’t want another visit from my father or his friends. There was always someone around to clue you in on what was and wasn’t socially acceptable back then.
If you slipped and broke your neck in a store you didn’t sue anyone. They would have laughed you out of court. If you couldn’t watch where you walked, you deserved to be on the floor with a broken leg. We watched where we walked. We didn’t have an easy life and we turned out just fine. It was the rich kid that was always in trouble, always having his way paid for that turned into the problem adult. Heck my boyfriend used to come home every night to carry his passed out mother to bed, dead drunk. Then he got himself up the next morning and drove over and picked me up to get to high school. My mother would ask him if he wanted to have some breakfast with me because I was so slow in the mornings. She knew what was going on. I purposely ate very slowly. We all knew what was going on. No one ever said anything. It was social game we played. Everyone saved face and he got breakfast. He turned out just fine. Our best friend came from a single working mother home. He didn’t even know who his father was. He’s an architect and doing better than fine. Perhaps an easy life isn’t the answer. Oh, that was the idealized 50’s you hear about with the family values, we were all good Christians in church on Sunday even if half the women were wearing those pillbox hats and veils to cover the black eyes. Yup those were the good old moral days and all that crap when an unbent coat hanger in the garbage meant someone might bleed to death…ask my friend some day about the 30’s and 40’s. She will open your eyes.
But the bottom line is, we were taught responsibility for our actions from an early age. It might have been a violent lesson, but we learned there were no excuses, no free rides and it was shape up or ship out usually with the boot print on your pants. No one planned to be a movie star, make millions of dollars doing nothing, being on a reality TV show, being famous or having an easy life. You figured you would work just like your parents, get married, buy a house if you were lucky and maybe retire with a little money to survive on after you took care of your elderly parents. There were no nursing homes or retirement communities. If you weren’t well above average intelligence, that was your fate. There would be no college. The government wasn’t giving you anything. There were very, very few scholarships, maybe a couple per college. Your parents didn’t owe you a dime and weren‘t going to have one to leave you. You got a full time job after high school and you worked the rest of your life. End of story. Well, economically, we’re back there so wake up and smell the coffee, if you can still afford a cup and you might work on teaching your kids to survive in this new world. Welcome to how the rest of the world lives.

Forecast and Faery Finder
By Janice Scott-Reeder and the Bitwit
Message from the Microwits: I am Boogoboo. Fear my mommy! She doesn’t have claws and her teeth are way dull, but she brought down a huge birdie on Sunday and cooked it for us. I can barely move I is so full. Urrrpp. I going back to zzzzzz……
Note from the Mommy: He still isn’t moving….
According to Llewellyn’s Spell-a-Day Almanac, today’s color is white and the incense is basil.
FORECASTS:
Deck: Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea.
Today’s Tarot Card is the Ten of Swords: destitution. There really is no way I can soften this one for you: “The debasement of all moral qualities.” There is weakness and corruption. There is no point in making excuses or apologies. Start over.
Astrological Source: Llewellyn’s 2009 Daily Planetary Guide.
Astrologically:
This is not a good day. It is all squares which always provide challenges. The first one is to Venus and no Venus aspect is really bad, so social events are just a little blah. The second one is at 7:13 PM EST and is to the Sun. It marks the beginning of the 4th quarter of the moon, a time to look at what works and what didn’t and dump the latter. It also makes it hard to promote yourself as ego issues or credits tend to tic people off. Try flying under the radar today.
Deck: Healing with the Fairies.
The Faeries say:
It is super hard to let go of things today, so avoid making enemies.
Today’s Cat Comfort Card is:
Aristocat: “Classy and understated, you’ll attract many admirers.”
Deck: The Fairies’ Oracle by Brian Froud & Jessica MacBeth
Today’s Faery Finder is on the lookout for:
The Singer of Chalice arrives today. From this chalice the rainbow energies of trust, joy, patience, creativity, hope and miracles come forth. You don’t have to be open to them individually but can allow these energies to collectively flow through your life. It is a little scary at first but oh so rewarding.
Today’s Lo Shu Number is 1 and the Element is Fire. The Snake finds conflict but the Rabbit (me) has a good day. Today is NOT an auspicious day for haircuts, construction or births.
Today’s Message from the Universe is: “I was born to contribute and make a difference. All of my doubts and fears vanish. Each day I express my highest qualities in every aspect of my life. I now choose to serve with selflessness, simplicity and joy.” Annie Marquier creating a world of peace one thought at a time.
COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
Well folks, I did it! I really did it! I filled the cats. Yes, I filled them. I cooked one of the turkeys on Sunday night and let them have everything but the breast meat. They are so full, they have not asked for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Fiona is laying on her stomach unable to move. Boogaboo has only moments of consciousness. Purdy von Sweets is asleep after drinking my coffee. It is so quiet and peaceful I am cooking the other one tonight! All hail the great turkey drug! They haven’t broken anything in twenty four hours!
I definitely caught something this weekend. I am too tired to move and I understand I am not the only one with this. I could sleep the rest of the week if I didn’t have work to do. It makes a good diet. I don’t want to eat anything. I was being careful so I have concluded these bugs are being transmitted via money. Yes, they are on the money we are using and I am thinking this may lead to a whole new industry in real money laundering. The question is: do we add fabric softener?
I am reading the new Anita Blake vampire executioner novel: “Skin Trade” by Laurell K. Hamilton. For those of us who were really wondering if there was a chapter of plot and action amid the 30 or so on sex in the latter novels, she has returned to action genre. This one is really good and making up for the last few. Some times her knowledge of assassins is frightening as I have known a few in my day: Frighteningly accurate. She is pretty darned good on the psychic stuff, too. One lesson she really hits in her books that a lot of people just seem to forget when they start dabbling in the occult…there is always something bigger and meaner than you out there that wants lunch. Thus, some of us have learned to fly really low on the radar because we really like our a**es right where they are.
I did not have a printer that would really print photo quality and I got the HP at Costco the other night for 100.00 off. Normally when I see 100.00 off, I just keep walking because I know I can’t afford it. However, this was almost half off because a newer version will hit the shelves shortly. It is wireless and lately, I have been suffering from macramé cords. I actually found my mouse cord tied in a knot around my TV cord. Now how on earth that happened is a huge mystery. This was a real knot! I can think of no way it did that by itself. There are just too many cords leading to too many surge protectors, daisy chained to provide enough outlets for devices that all have a couple of more cords leading between them. It scares the local spiders. They think there must be a really huge, mean spider making a web like that! I am constantly afraid the cats will get entangled and break expensive stuff or strangle themselves. So, I am trying to go wireless where I can. This printer also scans front and back and prints front and back. That will give me ability to print up little booklets for you guys without going crazy trying to align pages and get the right page facing the right page in the right direction and order which is really a job you should never give a dyslexic who can’t tell right from left.
The cats are beginning to stir so another turkey had gone in the oven. Ah…the turkey drug is so useful. I am sick and the cats are peaceful. All I can ask is this bug leaves my body soon. I am cleaning out the freezer for the next big sale on them. Hey, they were cheaper than dry cat food and I can steal dinner off them, too.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
No, this isn’t about being trapped, endlessly circling the parking lot trying to make it to a sale. I gave up doing anything resembling that years ago because I HATE TO SHOP! There it is, in all capitals. I HATE SHOPPING. If I could order my food line, it would be delivered tomorrow. Shopping is just not fun for me. I like to look at things but I do not like to shop.
However, as one person put it: Let the Christmas war begin! I wonder if these poor beleaguered “Christians” know the rest of us are just working on our decorations, sending out our holiday greetings and planning our parties and every once in a while looking at them with pity? We have no massive organized and coordinated plan to make them extinct and take away Christmas. We don’t even have a plan for Yule dinner. We tend to be a disorganized lot.

I always like it when someone tells the Universe what is really being preached.
Now, let me give you a strategy session in war. Yup, that happens to be something I am good at and well trained in. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” That quote is touted heavily to forge alliances in this religious war. The problem is that isn’t the quote. Let’s try; the enemy of my enemy is my ally. It is a subtle but important difference. In war, the real strategy is; The enemy of my enemy is my temporary ally because I will probably have to kill them in an hour or two. No illusions there. You don’t disarm, get in bed and throw a party because the guy who was shooting at you just bombed the other guy who was shooting at you, too. Sooner or later, he will bomb you. There is no possible way extreme Catholics are compatible with extreme Fundies because of that little issue of Saints and praying to them. It’s called idolatry. Nor are either compatible with extreme Judaism because of that little issue of Graven Images…So when they all get into bed together, expect a lot of blood, eventually. The simple truth is, extremists of any variety are not compatible with anyone.
There are some wonderful, not so new, products out there. Hating to shop often makes me years behind. I bought a little three drawer organizer when I got Vanwitch her big rolling one. The reason has to do with my pill bottles, nail things and general stuff that likes to accumulate on the night stand and in the drawer. Both locations offer two guarantees: I will not be able to find what I need and the cat will take things. Now everything is neatly organized into pills, grooming and miscellaneous writing stuff like pencils, post its and so forth. Not only that, but it is geostable unlike the shoes boxes which just provided a land surfing opportunity for the cats. Anyway, that is my happy for the today!
I do like to review products honestly. I bought some of the new Loreal Mascara with that strange little round spiky brush. First off, open it in the bathroom. You will be covered in mascara from uncapping the bottle which has something like a perfume dipper in it for some arcane reason and will smear two of your fingers if you are super careful. If you aren’t, you may be showering it off. Then you have to put the brush in the tube. Once that is achieved, you can move on application. I may have done it wrong because I was in a hurry and didn’t read the directions. Yes, I who always read directions, failed. However, it was nothing new or special and it wasn’t easy to get used to, so you want to allow extra time on this one. I will give it a proper try sooner or later. Now as to the mascara, it is not clump proof. I succeeded in clumping it at one point and had to use my finger nails to get it out of my lashes. However, unlike the previous Halloween fiasco with the yet unnamed variety that I think is nuclear war proof…I had raccoon eyes for a week…water didn’t dent it…soap didn’t dent it…melt down cream had no effect and the old stand by Pond’s cold cream didn’t dent it…I can see the advertisement: Nuclear war…your body may disintegrate but your lashes will still be there…long, thick and beautiful! Anyway, it came off easily with soap and water (I use a super mild soap, too.) and there is not a speck of it anywhere near my eyes today. That in itself will guarantee I buy some more of it. It also didn’t irritate my eyes and I only lost one lash as opposed to the five or six I normally lose when I apply mascara. So it is a winner.
Napoleon just noticed the shoe box is gone, the stand is cleaned up and a strange new three drawer organizer is there. Immediately he started pulling all the papers and bills out trying to find the missing pieces. Then he saw the drawers and now he is a snit. You can’t move anything in this room with upsetting that cat. He is such an old man and barely two years old at that. He even washes the Microwits so they don’t contaminate his space.
I have slept twelve hours, not consecutively, but in pieces….hey I even got up and did the forecast early this morning around one or two! Now that I have had a little coffee, I am almost human. I am daylight challenged or nocturnal by nature. It takes coffee to open my eyes in the daytime. I am a diurnal zombie. Seriously, I do not completely awaken until the sun goes down no matter how much sleep I get. I am still fuzzy around the edges and I know I had enough sleep.. I also like blood…Hummmm….maybe I am a vampire.
Anyway, it was a good show. I can support George’s lunch habit for a month and the cats will eat for a week. Life is good. However, it is going to take some time to build up my endurance again. Four hours totally wiped me out. When I fall asleep at 9 PM, I have either never been to bed or am seriously tired.
Some of you on Facebook saw the picture of the pentagram chest I got in to sell. Luckily I bought more than one because it grows on you. I WAS NOT going to keep one for myself. I had two decks of Tarot cards in it, my silk and my velveteen reading’s cloths and something else for the show figuring out how to put a handle on it and planning to rub some gold leaf into the pentagram to accent it. Yup, it grows on you.
One of the turkeys is out of the oven. I put it in a cooking bag this time. The meat fell off the bone it was so tender. It is cooling for the cats. First the humans took some and Napoleon once again set about proving he can eat his weight in turkey.

COMMENTARIES BY JANICE SCOTT-REEDER
I was completely exhausted after the wonderful Psychic Accessories Show in Boca Raton. I had a great time and there were even some great little sandwiches to take home. How tired was I? Well, I was totally not paying attention and Napoleon grabbed half a sandwich out of my hand and ate it. He will be requiring payment of a whole sandwich from anyone taking his Mother from him for half a day. You don’t want to know what you will owe for a full day. Anyway, I drifted off to sleep and woke up 4 hours later but I feel like I slept 8. My constant companion was with me. No, not Napoleon: pain. Perhaps after I finish this I can sneak in a few more hours. The hips have stopped hurting for now.
It turns out George really is allergic to a specific mushroom. It is the skinny, tough little medicinal one and he is broke out from head to toe. That didn’t stop him from making the show, though. I know, I should have known after the last attack. He has been eating all sorts of mushrooms with no side effects. Then I found some fresh ones of these at Western Meats, cooked them up and viola, lobster George! He only had two! I shall have to be more careful. Me, I had six and no effects what so ever. Anyway, last night we were at Target getting some medicine for him when I had an attack of the organizational bug. It hits me a couple of times a year though I have tried hard to find a vaccine. Half way to the car with a three drawer organizer George asked what I was going to do with it and I explained it was for Vanwitch. I have her things in a cardboard box and they are constantly sliding all over the front of her cab. Well, he looked puzzled and asked what she needed an organizer for. So I started explaining she had her special seat cleaner, micro fiber dusting cloths, tools, books, and so forth when he had an attack of the exasperated shrugs you have to have a Y chromosome to get and said: “Oh, I forgot. Vanwitch is a she.” If his foot gets run over, she heard him. Anyway, Vanwitch is now all nicely organized. I can find everything, even my salt grinder! I think this calls for a pepper grinder, too. I like my condiments.
‘Tis the season to be catalogued! I just noticed they are getting out of hand again by my bed so into the recycler they go tomorrow…I guess that would really be today. Geez…how many of one kind do they have to send? No, they are aren’t duplicate mailings. They have different covers and different incentives but the same companies. I think I get two a week from the Lane Byant group and Roamans. At least the cheese gift ones have gone AWOL this year…..so far….
